how much oil is in the tank (%) when the oil light comes on?

The Oil warning light usually comes on when there's a loss of oil pressure. It doesn't work like a fuel gauge. However, it could also mean that there's a problem with the switch or wiring. By the way, any oil spots on ther ground under your car ? if so check your dip stick and refill. and get it fixed b4 you burn your engine up. If no oil leaks, then you know it's an electr. problem.

You really don't want that light coming on as it means there's no oil pressure to the motor. If you check your oil and it's shows normal level on the dipstick, there's a real problem which needs to be checked by a mechanic.
As far as the level at which the light comes on, I'd reckon around 25%, but you don't want the level to be lower than the range shown on the dipstick as oil cooling also comes into it as well.
