vid didn't work for me, what is it?

its an audi on turn 2 at mosport going off, turn two is the downhilll to uphill sweeper that takes out lots of cars. It just goes a bit wide, drops the outside tires onto the dirt and plows into the tires.

I think a little ebrake might have helped in that situation but either way when that happens you're pretty much ed.

General 02-21-2005 10:58 PM

ya, an ebrake at what.. he was going like 120 wouldnt help too much

Actually it's all down hill from the entrance of corner two, Contrary to what you say this corner isn't that bad, you have to screw up the entry and get the car out of shape to end up going off there or get help from someone. Corner two and four probably have the highest pucker factor because they are both down hill and blind. The elevation changes are extreme and really keep your attention. I think the track has lost alot of it caractor since they redid the whole place(late 1990's) and it might be a bit easier to drive it now. I only wish I could have driven the track before they redid it.

Also corner two has a slight bank to it and the second you go off there isn't much you can do, if you were to pull the hand brake you may just change the part of the car that hits first because the grass is off camber to the track.

Turn 2 doesn't have a bank it's of camber so if you set up to wide your screwed

I'm thinking a little bit of ebrake would have helped rotate the car, since its AWD he could add a little throttle in a slide (think 30 degree slip angle to the track) that wouldn't have slowed him down much, but it would have kept him closer to the track most likely getting him clear of those tires.

Of course its easy to talk when you are reviewing a video tape, when it happens you don't think quick enough, hell he might not even have a handbrake.

You're kinda contradicting yourself man, saying its not that bad then listing all the horrors of corner two haha, it is a pretty mean corner.. Most corners on circuits if you go a bit wide its ok, you can lift off and even feather the brakes and get back on line, I'm not so sure mosports corner 2 is like that.

It really isn't that bad but it does get the blood pumping when your flying over the crest on entry. The corner does have a little banking to the inside of it, that is why when it rains there all the water goes straight to the inside of the turn not to the grass on the outside. That corner is pretty interesting if you get use to it you can hold the steering wheel in one position and the throttle in one spot and not have to do anything until you are very near the exit of the corner. Also the exit and then the straight between that and entry to three is level, it's kinda funny but the whole is allmost all blind corners except Moss really.

The back straight is killer for low horsepower cars but get in something fast and it feels like your gonna jump off the top of the hill.

Yea after and before you get on track you can think of all the corrections you can try but the second your on it and you do have somthing go wrong most people will just freeze up and go for the ride.

"The back straight is killer for low horsepower cars but get in something fast and it feels like your gonna jump off the top of the hill." The ALMS cars actualy used to flip at the top of Andretti straight. They cut down and dug out the crest alot when they re-did the track

Don't you mean Can-Am and old Imsa cars like 962's etc.b I actually forgot about the top and how they cut her down that would have been something to enjoy while driving it. The Mustang I took there about two years agop would only do 180 up the straight and that was right into and I mean deep into the braking zone.

I think the car name Frizbee would take on a whole new meaning coming off the track there. My father took me to Mosport when I was like a year old and I apparantly got to see the Can-am cars, It's a damn shame I can't remember those day :ohwell: But this year I want to head for the Glen and see a Historic race there. The American historic series seem to get a tonn of exotic cars like the Can-am and old Lemans cars while at Mosport your lucky to see one F5000 and a Shawdow Can-Am car and the Can-am might open it up once.
