Chevrolet Will Build Cruze Eco With Six-Speed Automatic, Won’t Get 40 MPG
You’ll recall that the Cruze Eco was shown earlier this month at the New York auto show. It’s the fuel miser version of the upcoming Chevrolet Cruze. It will be motivated by a 138-horsepower, turbocharged 1.4-liter four and incorporate a bunch of aerodynamic enhancements, a slightly lower suspension (for aero efficiency, not handling) and low-rolling-resistance 215/55R17 Goodyear Assurance tires.
At that time, Chevy officials only wanted to talk about the six-speed manual version of the 2011 Cruze Eco, which will reportedly earn a 40-mpg EPA highway estimate from the EPA.
And the six-speed auto version? We hear it will likely end up a couple mpg below that.
