he could always get a K&N Drycharger to fit over the filter. Looks like this:

The Drycharger provides added protection by repelling water from entering the intake.

well i saw it on another car and i decided to do it just trial and error. i made a few mistakes but nothing much. i just got some 30 gauge sheet aluminum. only tools really was tin snips, drill, pop rivet gun, and then other stuff to make it easier and better, like the bench grinder to clean things up and i was able to use the bench drill for most of it, then i used bench saw to cut the hole in the air **** after i drilled a hole to start with, i had to take the blade out tho and then put it in the whole cause i wanted all the sides still there.lol. i still need to make a cover that i can put on in bad weather. im gonna get 2 bolts and 2 wing nuts and make something small with two holes that will cover it up. it was kinda hard to figure out where to drill the holes for the new underpiecese cause instead of cutting my stock plastic one and putting the scoop there i just decided to redo it all.

haha i spelled air dam like air ****.lol

you might want to put some type of mesh over the large opening, so that large things and small animals won't get sucked right on up in there. :D

lmao. yea i should proly do that. i dont drive the car everyday now so its not a problem right now but ill look into something for that.lol

JimmyFrance 04-02-2005 04:10 PM

Me and my dad are looking into doing this. THANKS!

69z-28 04-02-2005 06:08 PM

no problem. i took it from another guy online.lol. his was really good tho! he used nuts and bolts tho and really thick aluminum. plus i bent mine by hand.lol

camaro94 04-02-2005 06:16 PM

yeah, i've seen that online somewhere before. I thought about it for a while, but I'm not. Eventually I'm gonna do a custom ram air set up to make my hood more functional.

sounds stupid...but you can go to home depot or something and get some garden tubing and actually run it from your intake down the very bottom of your car and put a filter on it...I did it and actually felt/noticed the HP...but I took it off because everyone was laughin at me!

69z-28 04-02-2005 07:23 PM

yea i could have done something like that but i decided to make something that fit a little better than anything i could buy. plus i made it myself so if people laugh at me or something ill tell them to show me what they made so i can pick at it.lol

While I applaud you for your ingenuity.....it looks kinda ghetto-fabulous. But if it works....who cares right?

**** straight.lol. i dont really care cause it took me a few hours and that includes going to the store for sheetmetal, and i used tin snips.lol. i wanna finish it up with the screen like Danielle was talking about and also make a plate to cover it in bad weather, then take it on the highway.lol
