She's going to need a little body work, if anyone here welds, I need a drivers side floor pan welded in. There's lots to weld to, I'm just planning on the worst. I need a cage too, and I've got 2 1.8l 8v GTI motors, one from an 83 GTI, and one from a 87 GTI. Both motors are coming with fuel injection systems, etc. Here are some starter pics. Just got it yesterday. And, a shot of the block that's going into it.

Lookin good.:smilie_da
If u have a migwelder i'd be more than happy 2 weld in ur floorpan

jdmsteR 07-09-2006 06:54 PM

just wonderin why you're goin with the 1.8l 8v? why not the 2.0l 16v like in your other rabbit? are you gonna be using both motors to create sum sort of dual motor 4wd monster? is this a budget/grassroots build? what you using for ecu ?

rabbitman 07-09-2006 10:25 PM

The 1.8l 8v's are what are in my GTI's now. Both cars are getting 2l 16v's. The MK2 is going to be full MS 2, with a 3/4 hybrid, and the Rabbit GTI is getting a dual carb 2l 16v. Ward perfect, I don't have a mig welder, but if anyone can help me out, there's some cash, and beer. I don't ask anyone to work for free.:smilie_da Oh, and sorry missed the first question. IDRC Super Street drag car, maybe do some autocross. But it's going to be built to full IDRC rules.

Here's some better pics of the floor. I've got some work to do.:smilie_d0 Fortunatley, the passenger floor isn't bad, just needs a small patch. I've got most of the sound deadening off, man that 's heavy. :retard:

munch 07-14-2006 12:12 PM

euro speed .....are you gonna leave the multi colour shift knob in there ?

rabbitman 07-14-2006 01:29 PM

Um, not sure. The guy who owned it before the guy I bought it from, had the whole interior painted baby blue.:smilie_d0

SuprAdam 07-14-2006 03:09 PM

Yikes, and I thought the two small patches I had to cut out/weld in on my floor were a pain in the ass. Good luck with that! Do they sell the stamped floor sections?

Yeah, I could buy them for $200 US, or spend $20 on some sheet metal, and make all the ridges in it myself. I think I'm going to try that, seeing as the car is going to have a cage, and the 1/4's and tunnel are solid.
