This is my first car. Named her "Steph" because the girl who owned her before me had her name embroidered in the felt dash cover. She served faithfully until the trans blew and took the motor down with it. Currently she is missing the rear "Berger" Panel until we can finish clear-coating my Z28's panel so we can put the Z28's panel on it and Steph's back on her, and her rear two wheels are spray painted gunmetal. :D

We've started rebuilding her motor, I'm giving this car to my friend who helped me rebuild my Z28 for his first car, and he's eventually going to swap in a V8 and race her.

That's what my first car is, 'cept I've got t-tops. Your friend is lucky to get that car, but dropping a v8 in it is a lot more complicated than it sounds...

nice man like post said above little more then just swapping engines

JonintheRedZ28 03-16-2008 04:05 PM

We know. His plan is to just rebuild the 6, and later on, we'll turn it into a race car and delete everything unnecessary and put in an 8. That probably won't happen for a few years yet though.

Makes me miss my 3.4L that i had for a first car. Good Starter for a project

Jonsgreasemonkey 08-05-2008 11:12 AM

It is a good project car, but not the first one i've done. I think the ls1 was more fun. :)

Need to paint the headlight buckets they stick out like a sore thump. Looks like a nice project though.

JonintheRedZ28 08-06-2008 04:05 AM

lol I agree, the LS1 was more fun. The first start of that car was far more exciting (and a lot less frustrating) than the first start of the 3.4. At least I helped you rebuild this one instead of paying for parts and watching you work. I have all the pics of the rebuild if anyone wants to see them, and a video of this thing starting on open manifolds. Speaking of the video....

I just finished making an interior for the car. Here is the door panel.

I'll get pictures of it in the car tomorrow.

Less frustrating?!

It had no oil pressure and sized!

I had to tear the top end back off to check the timing chain only to find that I didn't bolt down the oil pump gear. Grrrrrrr.

It works now!
