Hmm, Rabbit harness, Passat 2l 16v harness, and somewhere, a Corrado G60 harness. Anyone care to guess what's going to happen to my GTI?

 No, that's what it came with from the factory.

Turbo Jer 04-30-2006 02:41 PM

What exactly are you building, I'm not a VW guy so fill me, and anyone else like me, in.

2l 16v turbo. Or 2l 16v with twin Delorto 40mm. Haven't decided yet.

Turbo Jer 04-30-2006 05:39 PM

Sweeet, when are you planning on having this completed?

ASAP. I've got pretty much all the parts for the twin Delortos, and that is a rediculously easy install into a rabbit. No wiring, just fuel lines, and I need to adapt the old distributor to the new block and head. Or, hack harness to work with the 2l 16v dizzy. Not sure which I want to do. The car just needs paint to be done. :smilie_da

2l 16V turbo in a rabbit = sex.

Yeah, and almost undriveable too. :smilie_da

It still can't be as bad as VR6 swaps. A big heavy 6cyl in the front has to kill the balance of the whole car.

LOL, sure. Just so happens, I acquired a 2nd one, that I'm working on right now. So, now I've got a spare. :smilie_da
Oh, and the VR rabbit swap is not as bad as it's made out to be. The torque is VERY hard on tires, but so is 2l 16v turbo builds too. I used to go through a set every summer. 205/50/15. Put them on in May, rotate in August, and all 4 done in October.

Yeah but I meant for handeling. I know those cars were made to take corners n Im sure a 2.8 in the front gives u tons of understeer.

im sure for a drag car, the vr6 would be the better way to go, but for a quick little street/strip car, i think the 2l 16v turbo tops em all. it'd make a pretty mean auto-x'er too with good tires :veryhappy

The VR is easily capable of 500 Hp, and it does create an understeer problem, but it's actually not that bad. The 2l 16v turbo on the other hand, makes the car stupid fast, and doesn't upset the handling. Personally, I would never put a VR into a Rabbit. The car is just not built to handle the weight and torque. You're just going to bend it. Here's a new pic of my GTI, from this morning. Thanks to Dirtroad, from vortex for the Esties. :smilie_da
