piston vs faulty oil pump = this

yup, got my piston back today from my built motor that i had in the cav. and shes real pretty. you can see where pieces have been literally ripped off on the edges, the scoring is something else and in palces the rings are melted to the piston. very pretty indeed. whats the moral of the story, dont give some $8400 to build you a motor and expect it to work when he takes 10 months to do so and lies the entire time. dont shop at j body performance

did you have the ld9 or 2.3? if you had the ld9 did u do the 2.3 pump swap?

2TONE_93GT 12-03-2008 11:20 AM

haha.. nice shop revue :p

What happened to the car, do you personally know the person who bought it?

ForceFedSi 12-03-2008 12:52 PM

moral of the story: don't buy a j body... ever.

judgez24 12-03-2008 04:48 PM

yeah your gay for owning a honda, i wouldnt even own a honda as a winter beater, too much of a piece of .

the part that failed wasnt an oem part, it was a high volume pump made by an outside company. car had an ld9 in it, fully built capable of making around 600 hp. car got parted out to the bare shell and then i scraped the shell when scrap was still high.

redwards11 12-03-2008 07:51 PM

lol i hate my jbody, and the self destructing ld9

the ld9 is good if you take care of it, they have a common oiling issue where number 3 cylinder gets starved for oil and guys will spin a bearing because of it. i had over 200 000 k on my original motor, got the car with 63 000 k on it and beat it every day and ran hundreds of bottles of spray through that car without an issue. :)

redwards11 12-05-2008 06:10 AM

ive gone through a couple motors 3 or 4 i think due to the oiling issue, the reliability to me seems hit and miss, the motor thats in it now is running strong even though i beat on it once in a while, the other ones threw rods and spun bearings all before the 150k mark. ive heard about a lot of people spraying like that one guy that used to be on jbody.org that ran 13s with a 100 shot on his bone stock motor. its too bad the interior squeaks and rattles and the dash piece under the windsheild cracks randomly. if they built it better i would probably keep it but this car is gone the moment spring comes around haha, im thinking of a colbalt ss turbo, 290whp with just a hahn tune and cbe, i like. my bad for thread jacking

judgez24 12-07-2008 10:19 AM

the new cobalts are great cars but theyre too expensive. but hell man the 4 door ss runs 13's out of th box with a good driver.

dash pieces crack because of sun exposure, the rods and bearings are all the same #3 piston oiling problem, its the last one to get any oil. i guess you gotta be lucky with them, i blew 2 motors, first on the bottle, i had a cel that would cause a random missfire and it was the cam sensor wire that was broken and she jsut happened to missfire while spraying against a friends stang, who i fed hard up to the point where it melted a plug and broke a valve, that motor had around 220k on it of abuse, thousans of pases on the strip and street and used to get around a bottle of spray a week fed through it. after that i had a low milage motor that i boosted and it held up great, built a motor, sold that one which i regret doing cause it would have made a great motor for my crap to go into from the built motor, but the built motor popped and i sold everything and i completely regret doing that. oh well :)

if theyre taken care of they usually last a long time but not many people take care of them properly and theyve got their own series of problems.

8900 for a 4cylinder engine build is a lot .. u must have got some quality parts and a complete build for that kinda coin

judgez24 01-09-2009 11:05 AM

8400, and yeah there was a ton of work in that motor. $1400 just for the port job. motor was supposed to take 600 hp and then yay, the high volume oil pump took a . the piston is now a paper weight, it sits next to the valve i broke a few years before that running spray and having a missfire :D

if being ripped off for a motor and having a faulty oil pump assembled and installed by them and then having them assemble the motor is what you mean, then yes, mev the sucker of many cocks built the motor, took him 10 months, he spent my money along with others and lied about why the motor took so long to assemble, then told me it was done and waiting on balance shafts, i went up to see the motor and nothing had been touched, nothing had been machined or assembled. id avoid that **** as everyone else whos dealt with him does. the guys gonna rip everyone off who he deals with, sell you oem parts listed as aftermarket, and if your unlucky enough to supply parts to him, such as cams, he'll copy your design and sell them as his own and cut you out. jus tthought id share to make sure no one gets fuked by this con man

2MINT 01-18-2009 08:45 PM

Yep that son of a bitch took 7g's from me to build my motor and l suppled him with parts...well most of them. He put the jbp oil pump, n jbp cams, n when l got my motor back...ha that took me 1 year n when l tossed on the turbo l didnt even get to enjoy the car. l only had put under 10,000km on it n the lower block blew. l didnt understand how it could blow up like that! l had the car only pushing 10lbs of boost. He said the motor was capable of pushing 5-550 to the wheels. But l guess will never know!

mine was supposed to take 600 hp, i got it and he had put factory head studs in which stretch at 12 psi, so i had to tear the top end apart and found out he didnt swap valves or valve springs either so i had to change all that crap over and he used my old timing chain tensioner so i got to change that aswell. the guys a fuken joke. my buddy chris had a motor done by him aswell and did alot more than me and his motor popped before mine did, he ended up having dick mouth rebuild it and its be ok so far but hes been easy on it. my total was 8400 including my own parts and not including the eagle h beam rods that i supplied. you tleast got to enjoy yourds, mine lasted about 7500 km and i got her all the way to 13 psi for the last couple weeks. at 13 psi she was a beast and pulled insanely hard. also drank alot of fuel. at 10 psi on the stock motor i was running below 9:1 afr with the fmu barely doing anything, i had an adjustabel fmu from 1:1 to 12:1. with the built motor at 7 psi i had the fmu maxed out for 10 psi we had to increase the injector duty cycle on my 38 # injectors. but she ran hard and strong for the short time she lived.

it seems that everyones been fuked by this loser and i dont know why anyone even goes to him or buys from him or for that matter how he can possibly stay in business. i could have had the same motor built locally for about 5 grand from a place that builds 1000+ hp street motors every day, but ive known mev since the late 90's and figured id give my money to an old friend. quite frankly id like to watch him contract aids and die slowly.
