The history

RIPP is celebrating its fourteenth year in business and Owner operator Ross Esposito decided it was time. Having been in the tuning scene since its east coast introduction in 1992 Ross has owned some legendary cars, from Audi’s, Porsche’s, German spec BMW’s and his record breaking 1998 Acura race car was no slouch, blazing a 9.90 pass at English town NJ, still running the factory power steering, bore and stroke, cams and throttle body (see full write up in the Japanese section of the show case).

However, focusing on the current SDS product line in 2000 Ross turned his interest to “corporate cars”, and worked his magic there. In 2002 Ross’ 2001 Dodge Stratus R/T graced the pages of Turbo magazine and was featured on the television show Rides with Funk Master Flex as a Street Sleeper, with 335whp on tap it was just that. His SDS powered 04 Tiburon GT won now coveted King of the Streets at the first ever Triple Crown event held at the legendary MID Ohio Motorsports park, and bested the likes of challenging STi’, EVO’s RX7’s among other tuned cars in what Ross calls his street trim (yes it was running street tires). It has also been featured in Modified Magazine, S3, Nopi and Super Street magazine and was seen on Inside Drag Racing Today and Import Tuner Vision.

Having a sense of accomplishment with the SDS product line and company cars Ross turned his interests to the street scene this year and is enjoying tuning some of today’s most sought after rides. In fact RIPP has tuned nearly every tuner car there is, except for one, enter the 1995 Nissan Skyline GTR Spec V. Expect to see RIPP tuned cars in 2006 issues of Modified Magazine, the first of which will be the RIPP powered 460+WHP (Stock Block) Dodge NEAO SRT-4.

The project

Arguably the most recognizable and most sought after tuner car in the world, Ross found this car in Michigan after five months of searching. The resent values have gone up with the hint of Nisan bringing the R35 to the states in 2008, and Ross wanted to get a taste of what he might expect once it does hit the states. The current project was found in mid-project by it’s previous owner, and was in need of a clutch and a turbo set up, making it a perfect candidate for upgrading, since the parts that Ross is going to change anyway, are already out and in need of changing.

Plans for the RIPP GTR include, but are not limited to:

• Larger turbo/s (To be decided)
• Injectors
• Cams
• Oil pump
• Water pump
• Fuel system
• Electronics
• Launch control units
• Differential coolers
• Wheels and tires
• Interior modifications
• Exterior modifications

The current combination in preliminary calculations should yield 6-800whp, but the combinations are still being worked out. One thing is certain, Ross’ car will be powerful very powerful and your probably going to be reading about it soon enough.

One of the best supercharger companies (they do use vortech superchargers) for imports, cant wait to see what they can do with this.
