A sweet bunny dies.

Man, I'd love to bitch slap this guy. Clicky I know this is a repost, but it brings a tear to my eye every time. This was one sweet Rabbit, and now it's dead. They might have repaired it, but the body would be screwed. Moron, who the hell downshifts on a dyno. I think he set out to get that Nitrous backfire.

"THE ROOF IS ON FIRE" lol

Tomek6 02-22-2006 07:54 PM

Why was that motor jumping around like that back there?

rabbitman 02-22-2006 08:06 PM

Because, it's mounted on rubber mounts, and is putting out around 400 hp. Oh, and the moron driving, keeps flooring it, and then letting off, flooring it, letting off, etc. Who knows why.

Tomek6 02-22-2006 08:14 PM

Maybe he blew a mount but still if you are gonna build a car like that and let the motor sit on shitty mounts that will let it move like that then thats retarded. Either way it was a nice car.

rabbitman 02-22-2006 09:00 PM

I've sat in a Rabbit, that had a turbo VR6, mid mounted, with it running, and I'll tell you, it needs the mounts. The VR6 was bolted directly to a subframe setup, that was welded to the original body, and the roll cage. I think I lost a couple of fillings in the 10 sec I sat in that car. You need the mounts. I honestly don't know what they were using for mounts, but obviously they weren't too bad. They let the motor move, but didn't break, at least not then.

BOOSTED_ITR 02-22-2006 09:05 PM

lol damn vw owners.. they have to put extra vr6 on boost to run 10sec :D

rabbitman 02-22-2006 09:34 PM

Actually the VR6 turbo mid engine, RWD Rabbit, was running 8.3. On ET's. I've been trying to dig up some pics. It was featured in Performance VW's magazine a while ago. :cheeky4:

Don't talk like you never had a VR in an MK2. :cheeky4: It looked like those mounts let the motor more way too much. If that was going on in the engine bay you'd have a nice imprint of the valve cover in your hood.

rabbitman 02-22-2006 09:58 PM

Actually, it goes the other way. They fall backwards. :cheeky4: The rear tranny mount snaps. 3 17mm bolts, and 2 19mm bolts. I've replaced a few. LOL.

Tomek6 02-22-2006 10:05 PM

LOL well I dunno how VW works. I've seen a couple of hondas with nice dents in the hoods from the motor hitting it.

See, honda until I beleive the K series, someone can correct me, made engines turn the opposite direction. Then, when you break the mounts, it hits the hood. Soo, every B, D, etc turns backwards to every other motor out there. I'm not really sure the reason behind it. If someone knows the technical reason, feel free to post it up.

Midnight Racer 02-22-2006 10:10 PM

poor rabbit

Tomek6 02-22-2006 10:16 PM

I dunno the reason behind it but in either case a nice set of mounts is a good thing to have. BTW. Do you have any pics of your rabbit?

Here is my newest one. GTI from BC, surface rust only, no holes, even under the rear bumper. I just ripped a 2l 16v engine out of a passat for it, thanks fastestcivic. And hopefully, I'll be done with the engine, by may. Likely going to be a T03, FMIC, maybe LSD, I'm not sure about the LSD yet, depends on cash flow.
