Yeah that ones in my favorites folder. You know what would be sweet for a project car with an MK1 or 2? There is a guy that has a porsche 944 motor in his MK2 but it has the whole drivetrain and rearwheel drive conversion. I bet that would fly.

Performance VW had an article on a MK1/Rabbit, with a twin T03 VR6 RWD conversion. it was about 8 years ago, so pics should be around. If anyone has them, put em up. They had a sick pic of the car with the front tires, full size, not drags, about 4" off the track, on the way to an 8 sec 1/4. Completely insane. But I'd drive it. BTW if anyone has any copies of Performance VW kicking around, PM me.

Yeah that would be sick. Id buy an Mk2 GTi if they were 4 or rear wheel drive. Same with corrados. After going from a front wheel drive to 4 wheel id never go back I don't care how much power u lose to the wheels cuz of 4wd.

2TONE_93GT 01-29-2006 08:18 AM

wow.. i used to love those.. they were popular when i was in highschool!

but dang, that thing moved... :smilie_da

If you can find them, there are a few Golf Synchros around. They were available only in Europe, with a G60 motor. But, like everything else that's better there, a few made it here. You can alway recognize them, the fenders are flared, front and rear. I'll dig up a pic.

I never new that. My dad used to have a Mk2 GTi 16V but with a G60 motor in it. FWD tho not 4. It was pretty nice had recaro race seats in it n that was over 13 years ago.

The first 3 pics are a MK2 Golf Rallye. Flared fenders, Corrado lights, etc. The last 2 are a very nasty looking Golf Synchro 4 door. I know there are a few Rallye's in North America, I've seen them at shows. If you ever go to the VW show at their headquarters in Auburn Hills, there will be at least one Rallye there.

True. I always thought those were ppl ripping off the E30 M3 widebody lol. Didn't know that was stock. Pretty nice. Tho I like the 4 circle lights in the front instead of the corrado ones. But still its a nice car.

rabbitman 01-29-2006 08:09 PM

Yeah, I've always liked the round headlights too. I haven't decided wether to swap round ones onto my 83 GTI yet.

Tomek6 01-30-2006 07:40 AM

If you do. Get the grille that houses all 4 not just 2. Some ppl put 2 to make it look cleaner but it just looks like a poor version of the car.
