hello everyone. i'm new to the site and the bmw world. i just picked up a 91 318is
. the guy i bought it off hit a curb and broke the lower basepan off. there is also a part which bolts to the bottom of the upper oil pan broke off. can someone tell me what this part is? oil pump? sump? thanks, and please no flaming.

she needs ALOT of wax.

Could be the pickup. M42 is a good engine when boosted, other then not you're not getting anywhere fast. If you want good power either do a M30 or M50 swap or boost it.
What springs is the car on, it doesn't look factory.
Other then that, the car looks clean, after a good waxing it will look really good.
