i dont like the E60 M5. only the generation before that (E39?) is an M5. this new one is so diluted. u press some silly button and you're at 500hp or smthing, otherwise u chill with 400. just that feature alone goes to shows it's not really a driver's car.

the M5 before this one was a bit more "pure". this one is just a straight-up big pimpin hoe cruiser

either the volume on the recording was really low, or that was just a really silent race for the speeds they were hitting

yea, not only that but it wasn't really a race. stock for stock, no previous gen. M5 would be THAT far behind. yea it might lose, but not "buslengthed" as u guys say...

^^^^ dude... the E39 M5 also had a "sport" button.... so there is no difference at all to the new one.

Calling BMW's flagship ///M not a drivers car is just wrong... especially just because it has a button.

no man, i said the new E60 only (IMO!!!). and the button was only one of the reasons.

also, from what i know the previous gen. M5 had a button for traction control or smthing and that's all (most cars have that now ne ways). u have pics, though?

You say this new (E60) M5 is dilluted... how so? The last M5 was also very understated in the looks department... as is the new one... bigger wheels, quad exhaust and a subtle bodykit are the only differences from the outside... they've kept the same reciepe from old to new.

As for the button... it wasn't just for TC, it was also the engine managment that "woke up" faster throttle response, etc... the new one just takes it one step further in the way that you can cruise to "only 400HP" which is more then enough for the city, and when you really want to get on it u can summon all 500 by the push of a button.

I'm just saying, to say the new M5 isn't a drivers car is just wrong... It is the ultimate 4 door saloon... there's nothing from any manufacturer that will touch this thing as far as production cars goes.

By pressing the Power-button on the selector lever cover, the driver can activate a sportier program with full performance characteristics. The activation of this program results in a more progressive response of the throttle butterfly to the accelerator pedal with the dynamic transient functions of the electronic engine management system switching over to a more instantaneous response. In the M5, the more comfortable of the two settings is automatically applied as soon as the engine is restarted. The change-over can also be pre-configured and called up in MDrive.

^^^ as you can see the "power" button does everything the "sport" button did on the E39 except that the E60 gets 100 more HP with the button and recalls you EDC (electronic damper control) settings, which weren't available on the E39, but it was an option on the older E34 M5's.

ah, you win dude!

but look at that blue, previous gen. look at how classy and muscular it looks, the way light reflects off those lines. pure strength...i would love to pick that bad boy up in decent used condition :la: :la:

and yea, still not feeling the new M5. u know how u walk into a restaurant and the food there is absolutely amazing, yet u still don't want to go back. well, it's cos of the ambience! you're just not feeling it!

well, for me, the new M5 is that "restaurant"

I guess if you don't like the design it could do that to you... I personally think the new E60 5-series is beautiful... even in non ///M trim... I know a lot of people don't like Bangles new designs... I personally think they're not too bad and give BMW a fresh start.

E39 M5 is a great car... My buddy had one... I loved it to death, but there comes a time to move on to bigger better things :D
