Amp Problem

hey i recently found out my amp doesn't turn off after the deck
is turned off or removed...otherwise it works fine

its an alpine mrv 605...so the blue light remains on as i leave the car

any suggestions?

gtcamry92 09-16-2007 12:52 PM

hey, check where your "turn-on" or remote wire is wired up to....u want it wired to a switched wire, preferably the remote wire on your deck's harness which usually is blue or blue/white...good luck

Who installed your amp? Some installers may connect the lead to the wrong wire, like ignition, for example. Camry92 has it right

i done it myself...i was told it would work on the blue wire....nothing

then i later tried the yellow and it worked fine.....until i recently noticed my
amp doesnt turn off along with the deck

Yeah thats your problem right there, you need to wire that remote wire to a wire that is not live after the car is turned off...the yellow wire on the harness is a constant 12V, and is live even if the key is removed...

If you have an aftermarket deck, im pretty sure it has a remote turn on lead on the harness...it should be blue or blue and another colour and may have a crimped connection already on the end of it...

ill check on that one

cause the blue wire that i tried (the first wire) wasn't crimped on anything
it was simply hanging out of the deck

thanks

There should be a blue with a white stripe, that will be your remote turn on wire.

if all else fails....jus run your remote wire on a switch to any 12v source... then u can turn on and off ur amp anytime u want

^thanks for the help guys
i tried the blue and white wire and it works like a charm

u probably got the remote turn on connected to the continuous power for the radio. u need to hook the remote turn on to the accessories wire.

Cooliebuoy 03-19-2008 03:04 PM

definately check the remote wire....most likely the cause of your problem
