In-dash DVD player question

hey guys i just got an in-dash dvd player for my 94 camaro, and im havin trouble with the color wire harness... i already conected each wire on the in-dash dvd to the wires in thge car and it wont work, can any help me??

eh depends on the model number etc. etc.. alot of them have certain code combinations now, for the ebrake cable and other things of this nature before they will turn on.. honestly if your an amateur by any standard at car audio i would take it to a shop bro

What do you mean it won't work? Nothing happens at all when you turn it on, or it only lights up but won't play or what.

Like Jake said what model do you have and did you use the manual when you connected all the wires. I assume you double checked all them to make sure they were correct and have a good connection.

well i finally got it to work, i had the wiring all messed up... now i need to find the e-brake wire so that i can use the video, any of u guys know were it is and wht do i need to do so that i can use the dvd while driving ???

Good to hear you got it working now.

You don't need the parking brake wire, I just grounded the wire that was suppose to go to the e-brake and it always works.

just when i thought everything was fine something happen... when i put cd's in, i cant hear them, the audio doesnt work on the cd's. when i put the radio the audio works. i haveny grounded the e-brake cable yet, could that be the problem??/

not sure..i had a stereo once that i had hooked up until one day nothing would come out of speakers at all...lucky for me i wanted to upgrade anyway so i just replaced it but i don't think it would be your e-brake wire if it worked before

pentavolvo 12-27-2006 02:55 PM

you need to find where you hooked up the power antenna wire from the radio and hook the remote wire up instead

2Poor4Z 12-27-2006 04:20 PM

umm not sure what pentavolvo is talking about but...

i would say that the ebrake wire could very easily be the cause of the cd's not working.. but maybe not..

and depending on the model number (sorry to burst your bubble chad), just grounding the wire out won't work anymore.. on older models this worked but it was too easy to get around so the companies made it more difficult.. there is a sequence on all new dvd players where the ebrake has to be set (usually for 2-3 seconds) released, and then re-set in some form or fashion before the screen will work.. the easiest way around this for use while driving is instead of hooking it to the ebrake.. hook it to a toggle switch.. which is grounded (serves the same purpose) and then just do the factory ebrake sequence on the toggle switch instead of on the ebrake..

thanx you guys! i finally gbot it to work... again i had trhe wiring all wrong, and i got a code to unluck the DVD, so i can watch it with out even grounding or puttin a switch on the "e-brake" wire, ill post sum pics *** soon as i get em!

2Poor4Z 12-28-2006 02:08 PM

ah that was gonna be my next suggestion.. some of them do have a secret manufactures code that you can find to unlock alot of the stuff.. i just did it for a friend of mine on his new dvd player.. i had forgotten about that
