Door Chime,

i installed a new deck,
since then my door chime has been going off while im driving,
it makes me go insane, i want to rip it out!!!

why would this happen, and what can i do? I remember a topic on this before, but i cant find it, and i never thought it would happen to me.
should i remove it? is it really important?
its a 93 chevy cavalier, if anyone knows what to do, or can tell me how to disconnect it. let me know.
thnx.

Did you use the proper harness when installing your deck? I know 95 or so and up Cavilers have class 2 wiring and require a special harness that is built just for your wiring, which in the end disables your door chimes as a side effect, I'm not sure if yours is the same.

yeh i used a gm harness adapter model for my car specificly.
it dosnt disable the door chime, it seems to make it go off frequently while im driving. really annoying. i dont even know where it is, i looked in my manual, and i also have a haynes manual, neither of them seem to have the info i need in it.
if anyone knows where this chime thing is, how to disconect it, or if its ok to do that.
or just nevermind, but i certainly dont want to take it into a shop, and like have them charge me for it. that would suck.

...and the problem is......?...???>....?

Everything electrical goes back to your fuse box....find the appropriate fuse - and pull it out. If your door switch is working properly - with or without the fuse - your interior lights would come on.
Whether or not its connected to your seatbelt switch....well, if you need a reminder to put your seatbelt on before you start driving................
