Good Setup?
Good Setup?
i have a question for a friend. he wants to know if his subs will pound.
he has an alpine amp (mrp m650) and wants to run 2 10" type r's (SWR-1042D) off of it.
specs for amps are as follows
Details:
» mono subwoofer car amplifier
» 400 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms (600 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms)
» variable low-pass filter (50-200 Hz, 24 dB/octave)
» tuned Bass EQ (0-12 dB bass boost at 50 Hz)
» subsonic filter (24 dB at 15 Hz)
» MOSFET power supply
» CEA-2006 compliant
» STAR Topology (minimizes internal noise and prevents ground interference)
» speaker- and preamp-level inputs
» gold-plated screw terminals
» fuse rating: 30A x 2
» 8-gauge amp wiring kit with 60-amp fuse recommended — wiring and hardware not included with amplifier
» 12-13/16"W x 2-3/8"H x 9-9/16"D
his subs specs are as follow (its 4 ohm subs)
Power Handling:
Power Handling Capacity (RMS): 500W
Power Handling Capacity (Peak): 1500W
WILL HIS SUBS POUND? OR WILL HE NEED MORE POWER? OR IS IT DECENT

yeah it shuld pound but i strongly suggest getting atleast 4 or 0 gauge wire
i got 8 gauge and i ripped it out the next week and got my kit from bestbuy on employee discount..came up to like uhhh 80 bucks not sure
but the kit is stinger and it sells for 179.99 bucks
reason why i chose a bigger wires is because it allows more power/current from the battery to the amp which is better LOL
