Honda CR-V steering column making "zipping" noise?

When I turn my Honda CR-V steering column, especially for the first few mins driving, morning etc (it doesn't happen all the time), it makes a zipping noise, like zipping up a jacket, as the wheel turns. Any idea what this could be?

Doesn't sound normal to me. I would take it in to the Honda dealership where you bought it. What year is it??? I have a 2007 and it doesn't do that so I think it could be a problem.

1--it could be low on fluids2--check fan belt..may need to tighten it...deflection is one half to three quarters.in other words, if ya push down on it, estimate if it 1/2 or 3/4 pushable down.

First thing I would do would be to check 'power steering' oil level. If that is OK, and the power steering pump is belt driven, I would then check the belt tension. From what you describe it will be one or the other, and shouldn't be costly to rectify.P.S. If you find the oil level low, have a look to see if there is a leak, either at the pump or the steering box.
