Need some help...

I am trying to help my mom out by installing a CD player in her car. The catch is that the cd player is a factory unit from a Malibu. The car I am installing it in is a Impala. The stock unit fits perfectly and even has the exact same plug in the back. Bolt holes and everything line up. The problem I am having is that when I installed it into her car, it went into a "Lock" mode. I heard there is some type of code used to get rid of this. Does anyone know anything about this? Can someone please point me in the direction of some help. Thanks.
