No Ignition/Accessories Power Wire?

I am installing a new stereo in my 2002 Olds Alero. I cut the original harness away (haha). I have all the speaker wires connected fine, and the ground and constant power, but there is no yellow or red ignition/accessories power wire. I can get the stereo to work if I connect the ignition power wire to the constant source, but this results in the stereo being on all the time. I have several wires left over which have something to do with warning chimes, but I tried them all in turn (brown, grey, black and two purple wires) on the red ignition power wire and the stereo does not turn on. Any suggestions? This is my first stereo upgrade, and I'd like to get it done so I can move on to the amp + subs. :headbang:

Sounds great already, btw.

Well, I guess my options are to leave it connected so its on all the time and just take the face plate off, or tap into an ignition wire somewhere. I drove around today with it connected (ignition and constant power wires to the constant source) and everything seems fine. Still, it would have been nice to have it turn on with the accessories power and no removal/replacement of the faceplate necessary. Time to go work on that cubbyhole to fill the hole in my dash, which I'm really pleased with btw. Yet another place to stash my phone or whatever. Screw dash kits, ghetto ftw!
