Passive Radiators

Hey Archemedes, I know you have been around most systems and have probably worked with them. I am also waiting for you to get some truly wicked items for sale on your ebay account.

I am interested in creating a PR system, and wondering if it is worth all the time and effort it will take to tune the PR to the box. I hear there are lots of pros and cons. I would love your two cents on the issue.

Wow, Arch hasn't been around here for months and months and months. I'd be suprised if he even looks at the board anymore.

paarman97maro 06-12-2007 05:03 PM

Yeah might wanna try emailing him.

Phate 06-12-2007 06:51 PM

Where did arch disappear to anyway? I know he had some RL troubles... but would be nice if he'd drop by once in a while.

ITSA6 06-12-2007 07:34 PM

yeah dunno where he went just disappeared ironically at 17500 posts

Klique 08-02-2007 05:55 PM

OK thanks, anyone have his email on hand?

archemedes 08-02-2007 06:24 PM

sorry I didn't see this. I wouldn't go through the trouble for a pr system unless space is a real issue, they can sound good, but going up just 1 speaker size give the same results

2Poor4Z 08-03-2007 03:25 AM

ok maybe im just out of the loop.. but i know alot about radios and im kinda lost on the PR system.. actually not sure ive even heard that before.. what exactly are you talking about

archemedes 08-03-2007 12:46 PM

it's a speaker with no motor structure, and works similar to a large port, very common in home theater systems

98CamaroZ28 08-03-2007 12:50 PM

he exceeded his post limit and the government is after him now...Dun Dun Dun! I hope he is ok though,

WTF?

2Poor4Z 08-04-2007 03:50 PM

gotcha arch.. i read up on it a bit.. i am familiar with the design just never heard the name for it i guess..

yea man i wouldnt bother with that in a car.. your talking lots of work.. and i dont think your going to get the same kind of sound as you would from standard car audio speakers.. plus you would need all kinds of processors and what not i would think

archemedes 08-04-2007 08:45 PM

it works well in a home, but you have a bit more space to tune things up, in the car it has to be a bit more precise or you hear the weirdness
