quick way to test a deck

I found 2 old decks in my garage and don't know if they work anymore and wanted to know if there is a quick way to test them, my friend taught me a way to connect them to a car battery but I don't remember which wires to connect, any help

i think it's red and yellow to positive/black to ground, hopefully that will stir a memory?
for speaker pick a matching pair of speaker leads (for example green and green with black)

yellow is memory and red is power.. so spin yellow n red together and touch it to positive on the battery n black to ground

It's a great trick.
I've used it many times to remove my cds from decks I've sold.
