Subs and amp

Looking to buy a couple subs and amp for a 2000 Jetta. Any thoughts on what would be a good brand. Looking to spend around $400

Any ideas on the size subs you want to go with, and how many? First thing I'd suggest, is that you consider going with a single sub thats better quality. I wouldn't say two subs is overkill, however I've always been a firm believer that one quality sub in a quality tuned box will work better then two basement bargain subs.

Keeping that in mind, I'd suggest a Kicker L7 in a properly tuned box running off a Pioneer x972 amp. The sound quality of the L7 isn't the greatest, but they hit damn hard, and for a pretty reasonable price. The x972 is a powerhouse in a very small and affordable package. I picked mine up for $150

If you're settled on getting two subs, I'd personally suggest something from Mach5 Audio. They are a great price, and can handle far more power then they're rated at. You can get a pair of 12's for under $200, and Mach5 is Canadian.

It really didn't matter to me whether it was 1 or 2 subs and thanks for the advice I'll take a look at those.

Well, i am a fan of Kicker and i know Davis at Selective now carries them!

Nice kicker square with a big wattage rms amp :headbang:

But, on your budget, you might wanna try DB, i believe davis carries that as well.

$400.00 ???
you might find something used for that price if you are looking for amps and subs.
Save up and get some real good gear.
You should be able to get a great old school amp in the $300.00 range maybe less and then just get one or two new subs.
Good luck buddy.
