System setup: Please help me...

I just bought a '99 Honda Accord Coupe and I wanted to put in a good system. I'm really new to this car audio stuff so I'll need all the help I can get. =P I'm on a budget of about $1000-1500. Here's what I have so far.

Alpine CDE-9845 head unit
Alpine Type-R component speakers

I'm considering:

Alpine Type-R 6x9's for the rear
HIFONICS ZX8000 5 Channel Amplifier NEW 04 800W ZX 8000
(specs can be viewed here
Kaption Audio CLV112 [a 12 inch sub in an enclosure that needs 300w RMS]
Dynamat Xtreme for my doors & trunk
Optima Yellowtop battery

Does anyone recommend I use something else for my amp/speakers/sub?

Also, would this be a good setup?

Bridge the 4 channels on the Hifonics amp to create 100w RMS for my component speakers, and use the 5th channel to put 300w RMS into my sub. Hook my 6x9's up to my Alpine head unit.

1 more thing.
If anyone can tell me what a capacitor is and does and if I'd need one I'd really appreciate it.

Also
What kind of wires are recommended to hook this stuff up? Is it likely that a professional installation bay will have it?

If anyone can help me out with this stuff I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

I am not a big fan of that amp but the subs an speakers that you have chosen should sound good. The yellow top and the dynamat will deffinately help the situation as well.

As for power wire go with 4 awg (or bigger) . Keep all wires short as possible. There is a perfect spot for the wire to go through the firewall on the right side of the car (same side as battery). When running signal wires run them on the opposite side of the car. Most shops should have the wiring u need to get it done. (If you can't find any,PM me and i can get u some wiring, i have some amps that might fit yor budget too)

A cap helps maintain stable voltage when an amp needs to draw a lot power, cuz it stores power for when its needed. Useful for keeping the cars lights from dimming when the bass hits.

Hmmm, what kind of amp would you recommend? Would it be better if I got a 4 channel amp for my speakers and a d-channel amp for my sub? (factoring in my budget, I'd only want one amp that does it all :P)

Waitasec, so you're saying that I should run the wires through the right side of the car? Or the left? Or both?? Oh man, i'm such a newbie.

With a budget of $1000-1500 you are limited in your choices, well if you decide to go knew. So far your on the right path and have some good ideas.

Personally I would not get the 5-channel as I have always preferd to stay away form them. I would get a 4-channel amp and run the front speakers off of 2 and than your 12 off of the other 2 bridged.

I would avoid 6x9's as they are overated for a setup like yours. Focus on your staging upfront with your component set and get your bass from your sub. The 6x9's will not produce the mid bass you are looking for and will only take away power from an amp, so save your money and don't get them.

You have the right idea about getting a deep cycle battery as it is the most important part of voltage. A capacitor will handle spikes in voltage (when the bass hits) but it won't provide you with more or better voltage. Witht he money you save from the 6x9's and capacitor you can purchase a yellow top which will give you better results.

Since you said it yourself as being a newbie I would let someoen experienced do the install. Remember even with the system a bad install will give your systme poor resluts. If you are going to install it yourself I would get a 4-gauge install kit and run power wires down the side of the battery and RCA's down the opposite, so you won't pick up engine noise.

Hope those ideas help a bit

so far ur building a good system but like everyone said dont waste time on that amp... but build your system in stages ie deck... the components and 4ch... the sub and mono/2ch... cause i think ur system is gonna run a lil more than 1g
