Think your box doesn't make a difference?
OK so I have had 2 Kenwood KFC-W2505 10" subs running off a RF Punch P3001 amp for the past 3 years. Subs are 150W rms each and birth sheet for amp says it is 383 @ 2ohms. So when I got these I bought a crappy cheap bandpass box that came with 2 subs in it already. Took those out and put the Kenwoods in. Sounded alright but not great. So after joining this forum and reading how much importance is put on having the right box for your subs I decided to take the plunge and build my own box. So I designed a dual chamber 1cu' sealed box 3/4" mdf with double front baffle and recessed mounted subs. So 2 weeks ago took the Kenwoods out of the bandpass box to get them ready to go in the new one. Wanted to still have some bass so figured what the hell put the original 10's back in and use them until the enw box is ready. To tell you the truth could not hear a big difference between them. So now I have the same subs and amp running in a sealed box made to specks and I CANNOT BELIEVE THE DIFFERENCE. I swear I have new subs and amp as they do not sound the same anymore. I was afraid with a sealed box I would miss the low end I got with the bandpass but so far I am LOVING THIS BOX. If you think it won't make a difference trust me it is night and day over what I had.
