kick...

booper169 12-02-2005 05:40 PM

thanks guys...but why do you think kicker wuld be louder... and they wuld both be going in a custom slot ported box

2TONE_93GT 12-02-2005 06:07 PM

kicker squares, more surface area compared to round.

it all depends on your enclosure.

you have your kickers in a shitty enclosure.. i have some cheap walmart subs in a way better enclsure. i bet mine would sound better.

You have to make sure the enclosure meets the specs of the sub to get the perfect sound for those subs.

2TONE_93GT 12-03-2005 10:18 AM

assume boxes were to spec for each sub.. kicker squares. :veryhappy

screw the rest. :nana:

booper169 12-03-2005 10:41 AM

each pair of subs would be wired to a rockford x7.. so 1700rms, so 850rms each.. think they would handle it good? i know the mtx's would. why does no one think the mtx would be louder?

2TONE_93GT 12-03-2005 11:01 AM

squares have more surface area.. 12 vs 12.

mtx = junk :knock_tee

booper169 12-03-2005 12:18 PM

alrightt

booper169 12-04-2005 11:57 AM

if i had 2 kicker 10" L7's in a custom ported box built to spec giving them each around 800rms what kind of numbers could i get... wuld it be really loud?

booper169 12-04-2005 12:08 PM

also i was thinking of getting an in dash dvd player. wuld the bass up the screen? or are they built to handle it..

munch 12-04-2005 01:58 PM

ok here is the deal you can make any subs loud.....its about amp.....you can take any sub but gobs of power to and your gonna pound to take Pheonix Gold good equipment fairly priced put it in a good box built to spec and amp the out of them your gonna pound and still have money in your pocket....just a suggestion .......but i would go alpine

Actually the MTX subs will be louder if both sub boxes are built properly.

The ability for a speaker to displace air is a function of two factors , the cone area and the linear excursion capability of the subwoofer. So even though the MTX subs have less cone area they make up for it with a lot more throw ( Vd = sd x Xmax) . If you do the math, MTX 9500 total displacement is 1.826 m^3 (.0356x25.65mm x 2 subs) and the kicker L7 total displacement is 1.159 m^3 (.0439x13.2mm x 2 subs) .

As a matter of fact two MTX 9500 10's will be like having 3 square 10's!!!
If you want to save a few bucks go with the 8500 series 10's cuz two of them will be a little bit louder than 2 square 10's as well.

i find that hard to believe. I have yet to hear anything hit as loud as squares with xception of strokers.
