sound like you have the constant power wired wrong

firefly_2k3 06-05-2007 01:58 AM

wat dose da mean?
even da clock reset each time jus notice... it's 12:00 when u turn da car..and for how ever long i drive it it's like a timer.... ex 12:00 (start car) ---- drive 1hours 1:00 o ' clock....turn off car...restart car it's back to 12:00

It means that you didn't use the right wire for power. There is one wire that turns on when the ignition is on, and there is one that supplies "constant" power. The "constant" power is the one you want, meaning when you turn off the ignition to the car, the deck doesn't lose power. Which means the deck doesn't lose your preset settings & clock settings.

its a yellow wire

On the back of your Alpine will be a yellow wire with some type of fuse attached. You need to hook that wire to a wire from your factory radio wire harness which has constant 12 volt power that does not turn off when you shut the car off. In order to do this, either buy a wiring harness that has the factory clip (get them at any Walmart, Canadian Tire or stereo shop for $15 or less) or use a volt meter to test for 12 volt constant. To do this, make sure key is off and just check to see which wire in the factory harness still has voltage and splice into it, or run a new wire all the way through the firewall to the battery. This will solve your problem.

yep he has it bang on, it is referred to as the constant wire or the memory wire. Although if you are running a wire directly to the battery because you can not find a consitent 12v source (you most likely will) then ensure that it is fused.
