$100 hooe, yay or nay?
Local junkyard has a 95 white camaro with the hood still in tact. They want $100, hoping I can talk down to $50 or $75. My car is black, and I plan on getting the whole thing painted when tax money comes back. I really want an SS hood, but I just can't find one for a good price...
A few questions: If I get this hood, should I A) Leave it white on my black car until I get the whole thing done in the next few months (probably before summmer) B) Attempt to paint it myself (0 painting skills, aside from fingerpaints and watercolors, but I would sort of like to give it a shot.. I just don't want to have it look like **** for months) and how hard would it be to swap the hood? Is it just a quick bolt on or something? |
Make sure the hood is straight and true first. If it is legit then it is only a manner of bolting it on and aligning the hood. I say try to paint it yourself, that is what I'm going to do anyway.

From what I can tell, it's nearly perfect. No visible dents or blemishes. It's missing the right hood strut, but mine should work just fine with it, right?
It's certainly dirty, but that's no problem. I'll clean it up nicely and might just get it painted, shouldn't be more than $50. |
$50? For maybe a half *** paint job. $50 won't even get you a door painted around here.
|
I can get a local shop to just hang the thing and spray it for around $50. Doesn't have to be perfect, because I'm getting teh whole car painted soon. So a "half-assed" job will be fine.

if you want half-assed do it yourself.
|
$50 doesn't cover the cost of materials to do it
