Body kit ...

I went down to a body shop to see how much it would be to get the kit installed and painted for me and the guy said it wont last more then 2 weeks cause it is going to be so low it was going to rip right off on curb , speed bumps and pot holes, so he didnt even want to do it and never gave me a price , (so im not going to him ) but i wanted to know if you guys have any real problems and i think it should be fine with 18 rims and taller profile tires, :banghead:

Unless you drive like an idiot, your not going to "rip it off".

Check out my '94 Camaro. It was lowered and had a body kit on it and it wasn't nearly as bad as people make it out to be. Just watch it on really steep driveways and speed bumps but other than that I didn't have any problems at all. The very back of the bottom had some scrapes on it but that was it and no one could even see it.

Check out pictures here - http://www.projectcamaro.net/gallery...?c=3&userid=74

Here's a picture of my '94 and my '99 when it was stock to show how low it really was.

Also, going up driveways or over speedbumps at an angle is the key. When I moved my plate down, I would scrape everywhere, but going slow and at an angle fixed everything.

yeah i have the normal appearance rear kit on from the factory and im jsut getting the sides an front of the xenon and the front ha that opening and side i cant really imagine hitting thoguhs cept on speed bumbs which you can avoid if you go over then one right

Yeah you really won't have to worry about it, the only thing that I really ever scraped was the air dam but that's because Wings West sent one that was much larger than the stock one to make sure the car picked up enough air to cool the engine.

alright that basicaly asnwer everything so il get it, the guy prolby jsut doesnt like customizing cars hes prolby one of the keep everything original guys but thanks everyone, once i get my rims then im getting gfx

long as you are careful, you should be fine. That guy just didn't want to bother with it if he aud that.

ye man itll be fine.. chads right about the new wings west air dam.. thats all that ever scrapes on mine.. you dont need higher profile tires.. itll look stupid.. trust me i had em..

and you wont have the larger air dam with the 98+ kit i dont think..

only time i ever ripped mine off was pulling up to far in parking spaces.. you got to be careful with tall curbs or those wheel stops in parking spaces..

What?..
Did you have to pay extra for it? Cause I didn't get one with mine. I bet that's part of the reason my car is getting hotter than normal. It's been running at about 200 for the last couple of weeks, and I still haven't been able to figure out why.......I'll bet that's it.

If I was you I'd buy a manual fan switch, so if the car starts to get hot you can cool it down.

blue89vert 03-30-2006 10:42 AM

I hope everyone is right. My car scrapes in and out of my driveway with stock height and mines a 3rd gen! Be sure to get some pics up when you get the kit.
