To chrome, or not to chrome

well as you all know my rear is sportin the chrome CAMARO inserts. well i like them up close and the fact that theyre chrome makes a big dif, but from a distance they look like poo. i'm thinking of maybe selling the chrome inserts for 60 bucks (95 bucks regularly) and then buying black urethane letters from rksport...any thoughts?

camaro94 01-12-2005 09:57 PM

post some shots of Carmen's(the car!) rear with thte chrome... can't remember what it looks like of the top of my head...

camaro94 01-12-2005 09:59 PM

Also, when buying new ones, check out this site. They have HUGE selection of color options. http://www.autotrimdesign.net/detail...&category=8253

I say stick with the chrome on yours.. do you have any far away shots of the rear? You said thats where the issue of them looking funny is. From that distance there, I can still tell they are chrome, and they still look good to me.

NCamaro94 01-12-2005 10:28 PM

if you go balck i got my vinyl inserts for like 10 bucks including shipping somehwere, but i forgot where. i can look it up if you're intrested in that.

Brent does em too

But the chrome looks sweet in my opinion

camaro94 01-12-2005 10:36 PM

yeah, but brent (and a lot of others) don't do the domed polyurethane ones, which look so much better than the regular ones, at least IMO.

1BADVETTE 01-12-2005 10:40 PM

stay with chrome. EVERYONE has the red/black theme.

FamousZ 01-12-2005 10:51 PM

Ill trade ya..

NoRiceInside 01-12-2005 10:54 PM

tru dat. i do like the price of the domed ones from afterthoughtauto. 35 bucks! dam. the thing is with the chrome, the letters are the color of whatever is around them. if they were polished aluminum then they would shine and they'd be the same color...its weird...

archemedes 01-13-2005 12:25 AM

I like the chrome

camaro94 01-13-2005 12:31 AM

I think you should go with the camo inserts:

its funny...its just brand new 2-stage paint, which is base coat, then clear coat. i think danielle's is the same thing, and hers is just as new as mine...so why does mine always seem to reflect so much? i dont even wax it...

shine also has a lot to do with colors, types of paints, etc. etc. Hopefully this spring, a co worker's brother will be painting my car. But that's only if he is still doing them, and if he doesn't quote me an outrageous price. If he does... well, then its back to ES I guess.

painter has a major effect, also all maacos are independantly owned every once in a while you get a good one

NoRiceInside 01-13-2005 11:03 PM

i got a good one then, but it took two paint jobs to get it right :(

camaro94 01-13-2005 11:40 PM

it took 2 jobs for ES to get it half right.

It must be something there for them to suck so bad. I really hope I find someone pretty good around here who will paint my car for a not so bad price, or I'm gonna have to take her back there and that makes me sad. :(

So Caleb, did you decide to stick with the chrome or get rid of it?

NoRiceInside 01-17-2005 02:45 AM

i have been giving it a lotta thought...the chrome looks good up close, and that combined with me being broke and lazy, i guess im gonna stick with it.
