Faded bumpers...

1 Attachment(s)
Hey...
I put new bumper covers on my car about three years ago when I had it painted. I didn't put any sort of protectant on them when I got them because I didn't think I had to, but now they are all faded and dried out from the sun. There is almost a marble effect happening too, where certain parts of the bumper are darker then other parts. Does anyone know what I could use to bring the bumpers back to what they used to look like? Maybe a silicone spray or something?

Look at the top of the bumper to see what I mean:

Have you tried armourall and black magic? I use black magic on my bumper end caps.

Yeah I just put some armour all on it and it still looks like .

Try the Black Magic tire cleaner/conditioner. Worst comes to worst, have the bumpers painted to match the car.

go buy some bumper and trim semi gloss black paint.

B6T,
try "Nu-Finish "... it might work... i remember seeing a commericial awhile back where they had a beaten-junker camaro, put some polish on and restored the finish to this sexy black... anyways try it on a small spot and see if it helps! :thumbsup
Edit: also, try Forever Black seems like a perfect solution, but i dont know is they sell it in Canada...

The bumpers aren't black though, they are like a dark grey colour.

try Mothers Back to Black, its for plastic and rubber bumpers and trim (not for paint!!!) Works on grey too. Just make sure you use something to clean off the bumpers first (try dish soap and water should get rid of the armour all and the other stuff on the bumpers). That should work.

Ok thanks man, I'll try that!

lol.. dont laugh.. peanut butter lol.. the oil from the peanut butter will absorb into the plastic and make it a rich grey color again.. i had an 87 accord with black bumpers and i did this once a year to keep them nice.. plus your car will smell like PB outside lol

pffft, you just made this thread to show off your shiney new FMIC. :supergay:

Anyways, send me a front and back shot of your car and I can paint the bumpers to match the rest of the car on photoshop. I think it will look really slick, like whats his name's golf from sheridan...If you can find that red paint I can paint the bumpers for you ( I have a spray gun and home made paint booth :) )

Hate to say it but your car is considered disposable..So I guess you cant complain too much it will prolly just get worse before it gets better with anything..

mrmustang 10-26-2005 08:54 PM

just go buy clear coat and clear coat them, will darken them right back up and blend in nicely, trust me i did it to my moms sfari b/c she had the same problem
