I hate the camaro's rear quarter panels and bumpers

n-e-one have a guestimate on how much it would cost to get a new front and rear bumper...and get all the dents/bumps in the rear quarter panel taken care of?...im thinking that it would be best to use like a filler to fix the dents cus even after u pope the dents out it still leaves bumps...

So how much do u think it would cost to get...:
Front Bumper
Rear Bumper
Both of them painted
fix all the dents some how on the rear panels (the only area on the car that dents)
and paint for that area...

I really wish they sold a kind of bumper with ground effects/body kit already molded on for our cars...
the reason why i want to get a new front and rear bumper is because its cracking! does anyone else have this problem???

how big are the dents, filler is supposed to be applied in thin coats, figure a spot the size of your hand is an hour not sure current time on bumper r&r but figure a couple hours each then add in paint time, if it's cracking make sure it's not just the paint (it should be) if it's paint a simple strip takes care of it still a couple hours billed labor but it should be less than replacement

it probably won't be pretty(the cost) that's one of the things that I'm working on right now on Mayhem, the rear quarters. They do make a gfx kit that mold into our cars... http://www.projectcamaro.com/forum/s...ghlight=sniper

TheBlackDragon 06-17-2005 01:22 AM

wow...since im keeping the car, im putting that body kit into serious considerationg...JFracing makes the kit? the only thing is that i guarantee since its not ready to be put on the car for a perfect fit is that in the run u will get screwed in the price to get it installed...haha i could always drive around with it unpainted until i could afford the money for paint...altho the paint would be the least of the costs...hoohoo...o well we shall see....

As for my bumpers...i got a cheap paint job done to my car and they were supposed to sand the bumpers and everything the get the cracks out...and when i got the car they did a pretty good job on it, but now they are showing up again...even worse...especially when i wash the car because the cracks sho because they are white and i have a black car...

For the dents...maybe i can just buy 2 new quarter panels??? is that a reasonable option that would take care of my problem....

lol since this is the appearance part of the forum i thought i also might add i got the blackout wade tail light covers...lol but they pop off everytime i try to shut the trunk...lol
ttyl- thank you guys for all ur help

2 new quarters won't get you dent free and will run about $600 a side to install, you can't sand the cracks out it has to br stripped of paint completely how bad are the dents? to want to repalce a structural welded on part to fix some dents is just nuts (if it's so there won't be filler forget it new cars all come with plastic filler from teh factory)

TheBlackDragon 06-17-2005 02:10 AM

the only thing that is cracked is the bumpers...little cracks in the paint...like lining. For the dents...when my big friend was helping me install my sound system he decided to rest his elbows with his weight on the quarter panels...its left about 5 dents on both sides total. when i bought the car first there were tons of little dents all on the side panels...i got the dents pulled by the body shop but it still looks very wavy...i want it to be flat and clean looking...i almost want a perfect reflection to be seen on the quarters...lol if thats possible....haha

archemedes 06-17-2005 09:26 AM

completely possible stud welder and plastic filler will make it look good

thanks for the help...i dont know wut i would do without the help on this forum. its great.

Im not gunna take the dents out right away because in a week from today im going to be taking some credits up at Florida State University and get a head start on my college life haha. I wanna see how messed up my car is gunna get first off so i know if its even worth all the work to fix the dents when it might just end up getting messed up worse anyways. They say parking is terrible on campus and they say the cars get messed up from swinging doors and such. we shall see.

your being black any dent will show as will some repairs shops are getting really bad at doing things right (my wifes nephew works at a body shop and not one of teh techs can do metal finishing it's sad)

FORCE_FED_Z 06-19-2005 01:21 AM

To fix your bumpers you might as well buy replacement. You can pick them up for around $150 a piece. If you figure prep time on an old bumper in sanding it down, fixing the cracks, they only have about 3 hours to do all that. As for the dents, pull them as much as possible and a little filler, you should be all set.

New bumpers F & R, fix rear quarters, I would say ball park $8-900..but that is just a guesstimate...
