Licensce Plate ... (Pulled over agian)

Okay, been pulled over twice in the last 3 weeks for no front plate (in a small town too). Anyway ... Where are nice licensce plate mounts sold ... and would ANY licensce plate mount fit over my billet grille? ... I DONT want to put a plate on, but I'm at least going to check them out.

seriously, keep the plate and some temporary mounting crap like mentioned, when you get pulled over "sorry officer i was just at a show and took it off, here let me put it in (put on plate)"lol. thats that.

FORCE_FED_Z 09-17-2006 10:08 AM

If the officer is complete moron that would work, but since he's in a small town I doubt it would work more than once..

Until you get a bracket, at least put in your windshield. That way you can use the story you are waiting for the bracket to come in that will work with your grill and also with your ground effects..

Phate 09-17-2006 05:34 PM

I have seen people mount the plate UNDER the grill... it looks ALOT better than on top. They typically have to bend the plate though... and I dont know if obstructing its vision is legal... you'd have to ask Force Fed on that one.

paarman97maro 09-17-2006 06:15 PM

Yeah it is illegal.. It is here anyway.

Seriously, I wasnt kidding, use zipties to hang it.

FORCE_FED_Z 09-17-2006 09:10 PM

Yeah, behind the grill is just as illegal. Techinically it needs to be a clear and unobstructed view of the plate- covers are also illegal even if they are clear, although I personally disagree with the cover ruling- wouldnt' give someone a ticket for unless I could barely read the plate.

And on top of that, most states have laws governing the placement of plate itself- usually a certain distance above the ground and a max height as well- but rarely are those enforced. Really have to be stretching to use that as a reason for pulling someone over.

I know the front plate sucks, but if you have been warned more than once, more than likely you are going to have to mount it or face the tickets..

69z-28 09-17-2006 09:46 PM

mount it on the airdam. i beleive Tony has his there and its a nice spot which shouldnt get you too much trouble.

MyFirstCamaro 09-17-2006 10:50 PM

when yo say airdam are you tooking about the plastic peice underneath the car "i just call it the underspoiler dunno why but i do" would that get all beat up and scratch and eventually just fall of and damage it

69z-28 09-17-2006 11:04 PM

yes thats the airdam. if you drive the car like you drive an f-body you care about, you wont scrape it.lol

FORCE_FED_Z 09-17-2006 11:20 PM

I care about mine and I still scraped it..its unavoidable esp if you are up north and your car is lowered..

I found I got more trouble with it being down low than not being there at all. That was just my personal experiance, but with his car have g/e's it might not work as well as others..

I did that for over a year and never had any trouble. I did scrape often though, so I just bent the bottom part under the airdam, worked pretty fine I guess.

Ive wondered why clear covers are illegal? I actually saw a guy get a ticket for that, I dont understand, whats the reasoning as to why its so bad?

They want nothing between the plate and an open view. But also, they want no problems with tinted covers, or those ones that are supposed to 'glare' and make it unreadable to cameras etc.
