New tint, but somethings wrong.

I just paid a good deal for some nice 3M tint. 20% all around. And to my dismay started seeing little holes in the side window tint appear. At first I thought they where bubbles, but they arn't.. The guy that did it, did a great job. On the tops of the windows, its more than holes in the tint, the glass has been gouged pretty good.

For a while I noticed that when the windows are rolled down, they rattle against something, especially when I close the door. So finally I peeled back the weather stripping a bit and saw this braket:

I'm the 5th owner of this car.. But I can't quite understand whats missing in the door here.. Obviously a regular camaro door isn't gonna have this metal braket with two prongs normally knocking into the window and destroying someone's tint and gouging the glass.

Does anyone know what the bracket is for? What I could be missing and how this happened? I'm rather fuming at the moment that it destroyed my tint.

The nice thing is its not that noticable from the outside, looks like a little bit of dirt or something if you look closely.

That bracket is a guide for the window u can adjust it. theres supposed to be a little soft pad thing on the end of it. (which means like many fbodys, yours is broken) I have afew extra when we replaced the ones in auto class. I got my windows tinted and didnt kno that 1 of mine were broken till the window decded to grind on the tint and scratch it real bad.

you guys had the tint on the outside? The guy that did mine put it all on the outside so it wouldn't get abused from the weather AND those metal brackets.

You're telling me. I had 20% on my '94 and that's what I'll get for my '99, it's dark enough people really can't see it but light enough you can see out at night.

Unfortunitly Tony's right. I was lucky with my '94 but I'll have to double check my '99 so I won't do the same.

Thanks guys. Now I just wish I checked here first. Sounds like this is a common problem. You think the Chevy dealership would have replacement pads?
