shave handles and locks

Does anyone have a link to a site I can get a kit for my car that will shave the doors, locks, and truck. I know autoloc has them but I can't get those jerks to send me a catalog in the mail and looking online doesn't help me. I need to know if any of the kits come with the pieces used to cover up the holes left by the locks and handles, or do I need to make these myself.

well, your going to get the holes molded into the door aren't you? so it's a clean shave? try and give them a call or something like that.

fourthgen_racer 01-07-2005 07:52 PM

Ive called them before and they are absolutely no help whatsoever. It's like they don't care whether they sell it to me or not. The people just don't seem interested at all in helping.

you do know w/ shaved door handles a lot of tracks wont let you race

fourthgen_racer 01-08-2005 01:53 AM

My car is so slow, racing is no longer fun, 10.667 is my fastest in the 1/8th mile. I can't beat half the imports around here, so I don't try anymore. In two years, I want to get an SS for a weekend warrior car and keep the 6er for a nice looking daily driver. I'd like them to look just alike with the exception of the door handles so people might mistake one for the other. Can you imagine the excuses people would come up with after losing to a car they thought was a six cuz hey, I'm the guy with the 6er that looks like an SS. I can't wait. Anyway, more info please...

yea, if you're not taking it to the track i say go for it. I'll let you know if I find any info on them. BTW i've got a pic of a TA w/ shaved handles if you want me to post it?

filling locks is a custom job, I don't know of any kits that have the parts especially with the composite parts on an f body, you can't slap a decal over the hole and call it nice

MeenZ28 01-08-2005 04:17 AM

Thats what i was thinking - to make it nice it's major body work. No "kit" on the morket will do what you want unless a crappy look is what you're going for. I'd price the job (Sanding, cutting, filling, painting) at a body shop first and then decide if you want to do it.

fourthgen_racer 01-08-2005 08:44 AM

I've got a guy lined up to paint my car and I'm gonna ask him if there is anything I can do to take the price down a little bit as far as labor goes. When I was in auto body, one guy shaved the handles on his old pontiac ghetto sled and used some plates of aluminum to fill the holes, but I don't know if the doors on the maro are metal or fiberglass. Post the firebird pic if you would.

haha, i love the quote at the top, I hope you don't mind but, in the future, I'm gonna use that. I think all maro's look good shaved. I was at a car show today with a friend and he said "The more I look at door handles, the less I like them. Are they really necessary?" I have to agree with him for the most part. At least for my car.

it is usually done custom.. the plates are made and welded on.. then bondeded sanded bondoed sanded bondoed sanded.. you get the picture..

May I ask what are you useing it for? You mean you want to take it to the body shop and show them how you want it to look?

chevylover930 01-10-2005 09:04 PM

if the doors ar metal make a patch panel to fit te hole perfect and weld it in. my dad did a truck lik that once and used no body filler.<and it not bondo that is a brand name (do u call all cars chevys??) f they are fibrglass cover the hole with coople layers of mat and sand it down. that proccess will use body filler in most cases.

I've done some cars with a different type of handle, I don't like the f body with no handle since the door is so long it looks like somethings missing
