Side molding

Lately i have seen people taking it off. I think it makes the car look a lot better but i dont know what it will look like on a 3rd gen. Should i take mine off? how hard is it? Let me know what ya think aight. Peace

I think it would look good if you removed the molding on the car

V6Cam 03-13-2006 06:59 PM

daaaayam im bout to do that right now... actually what kinda stuff do i need? Would i be able to just pull it off? Do i need some goo gone or somthin

V6Cam 03-13-2006 07:06 PM

Adhesive Remover, and i think goo gone would work, never used it, i used Adhesive Remover, let it soak for about 15 seconds and then start scraping with something that wont damage your paint

blue89vert 03-13-2006 07:08 PM

what kinda scraper wont scratch my paint?

V6Cam 03-13-2006 07:15 PM

i used a wide stiff putty knife, just be easy with it...

blue89vert 03-13-2006 07:20 PM

ok thanks

V6Cam 03-13-2006 07:35 PM

the side molding removal actually looks better on 3rd gens than 4th gens at least for camaros, cause on third gens its just kinda there an obvious but kinda molded into 4th gen camaros. 4th gen pontiacs are same as third gens tho. should look nice.

ok i just realized something, my car had a new paint job by a previous owner. I dont think its the exact same color as stock. This means it probly a different color under the molding right? Is there a way i could check up on this? I really need to know before i take it off. Thanks in advance.

be prepared for a ton of dents, that molding does a bunch to stop dings, and be prepared to paint if it's original chances are the paint will come with it in spots

Bernotas05 03-13-2006 09:39 PM

Yea and most of the time if your paint isnt fairly new the paint under the molding with be darker than the rest of the car.

69z-28 03-13-2006 09:39 PM

haha, yea definitley DONT remove it if the car was painted a different color or shade.
