Sound Deadening?

What should I use? I assume it just comes in rolls, but there seems to be a wide array of types? I see Absorbers, Composites, Dampeners and all other kinds of crap.

What's good? :P

I've been looking at Dynamat. I'm starting to wonder how real it is, though. Seems like you're just paying for pre-cut foil.

paarman97maro 09-09-2007 10:19 PM

yeath thats it

There's a lot more to it than just foil. The part that you see that looks like foil is just one side of it and it's only there to keep heat and such out.

I have 160 sq/ft of Rammat and 6 sq/yrds of sound deadening foam.

The real question is how much are you willing to spend and how quiet do you want your interior?

DYNAMAT!!!???? haha, JUNK!!!! over priced junk at that.

raamat seems to be a popular choice.

i got a helluva deal on some eDead from www.edesignaudio.com so i went with 150 sq ft of that. it did wonders for the sound in the car. exhaust is so much quieter inside, and the audio sounds WAY better. BTW, do the entire car if you really want some crazyness

The guy I bought my car from put the mat stuff everywhere in the car and theres shittones of sounddeadening foam sheets covering the floor and inside the doors and such.. Its crazy howmuch quieter it is when I have the windows up which is hardly ever since I like hearing my exhaust.

I use spray on stuff, and on nastyz28 they had a bunch of guys using a roofing stuff. Basically all the traditional sound deadeners are is an asphalt based sheet with some heat reflective stuff on some of it.

how much would it cost to do my entire car?

archemedes 09-10-2007 06:17 PM

depends how far you want to go. I spent about $300 in the bravada, but want it lexus quiet, the gp I spent about $50 just to stop some buzzing (need to do a little more though)

The roofing stuff would be the same as the very cheap stuff you find on eBay but when you buy real sound deadening there's a big difference. I did quite a bit of research before I bought any and trust me, there is a large difference.

I wanna do the whole car but I'm confused about how much of the stuff I would need

69z-28 09-11-2007 10:55 AM

150 sq feet will let you do the floorpan from the firewall, all the way to the tailights, as well as the doors, the sail panels up to the roof, both quarter panels, the insides of all the plastic panels and the entire hatch. i did all this and still have some left. here ya go...http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/pro...products_id=52

My dad decided to go with the factory matting under the carpet. Maybe if I have any money lying around I can get 40 feet or so and do the doors and trunk and stuff.

my next car i get i wanna do this too. after i get a bangin system of course...
