FLAME SUIT ON. This guy used high quality rollers and tremclad paint with wetsanding in between coats! Now I cant for the life of my figure out how this guy could afford this car and not a decent paint job. None the less the car looks great. Besides you could always try this experiment on a old hood or somthin.

I've used a roller to paint a car before. It actually doesn't look to bad, especially if you sand it after, and then clear it. You can't tell it from regular paint if it's cleared over.

He claims there is no need for clear after wetsanding a polish. There is hi rez pics on his other page i think. Pretty impressive and better then what a single stage macco job will do .

Well, I'm hoping to get started on the paint on my MK2 this winter. But, I'm just going to rattle can it. Likely camo, or flat black, haven't decided yet. I don't really care what it looks like, as long as it goes. There's a few good tricks with rattle cans too, like heating them in a tub of hot water, to make the paint atomize better, etc. Tack cloth between light coats too. I'm going to move this thread to the car detail section.

yea, i saw this on ht before... it looks too good to be true imo... i think only SOME people will get that type of result, and like not everyone can make something as clean as that

I did this for my truck on my probe wit the rust spray paint if you take your sand it the first time then spray it and then wet sand and follow wit 2 coats and wetsand itlooks good it just comes out flat but that an be fixed up with clear coat its the poor mand paint job

doesnt look all that bad but id rather save up money n get a real paint job... speially if u car ebout ur car enough it worth the wait.

If you add up your time doing multiple coats and a ton of sanding, you could buy a turbine HVLP setup and do a decent home job easy.

This may be the most topic I've ever seen. Never seen a car board without a thread about this guy's paint job.

BTW, rattle can paint is mostly propellant with a bit of paint. You are better to have a paint supply house make a spray bomb of real paint. If you ever do an actual paint job over rattle can work, you need to sand all of the rattle can paint off.

a buddy of mine used the rustoleum paint (same thing as termclad but its from the states and comes in a few more colors) and a spray gun that he got with his air compressor, ill try to get pictures if i can but according to him for a paintjob that cost him about $100 it looks pretty damn good

Personally i have seen some awsome homemade paint jobs, but they are only for the patient people. The majority of home made paint jobs turn out to be if done with a roller or aresol. I recommend if anything get a fairly cheap HVLP and compressor. There are many things that can contribute to a good final product..... Gun setup properly (pressure, nozzles, trigger), Air temperature, humidity, Preperation of the car, and other small factors involved. I think if you want to have a good qaulity paint job then thats what should be considered. Howevere i think if you take your time with aresol cans filled with real car paint from a bodyshop or supplier things can work out well. Take your time with preperation and keep the can at a distance and wetsand between coats. Either way do some research roughly before you jump into painting and i am sure you can have a more then satisfying result.
