alt and intake filter if you got one
depending on the engine

disconnect the battery, spray on the engine (WARM), let sit for awhile then hit it with the hose and blast it. watch out for harnesses ,alternator, intake. basically anything that can short.

after finishing washing it either blow it off with an air gun (if you have a compressor at home). or let sit for about an hour then re-connect the battery and you should be good to go.

you dont really have to but thats always a precaution i have taken on other peoples cars. my own i dont bother.

Sounds like a good idea this whole cleaning the engine business. Thanks for the tips. Any good recommended cleaner or just gunk cleaner

it would be best to use an engine cleaner made for car engines, as other products not meant for that type of job might remove the rust proofing under your hood:smilie_da. Canadian Tire, Parts Source, and just any automotive store should carry these cleaning products

there a carwash that done it for me a while back..the dude covered the pulleys and alt water pump..and the battery (connected) and pretty much amused himself with the rest

I used a car wash engine cleaner selection once at a car wash. It worked great cause it was very large spray that covered a lot of the places. Its very easy to do and gets a lot of the gunk and grime off. Just when you spray it off with water use a light pressure cause you might damage something with heavy pressure.
