what kind of wax to use on silver car
 

just wondering what kind of product is good to use on a satin silver accord....
I know with a lighter coloured car you wont see much of a difference but I have never wax my car except with those liquid spray type wax..instant detailer products.........I want something that will give it a nice shine, keep the paint smooth and easy to apply by hand.

meguires gold class. i've used it on a beige car and it turned out real nice :thumbsup:

how easy is it to apply and most important to remove or wipe away

I use the Meguiar's NXT paste on my silver Tib. Really brings out all the different colours in the metallic and it goes on and rubs off easy leaving a smooth finish. If you really want it to look good, go at the paint with a claybar first....leaves it nice and smooth.

I am aiming towards meguires gold class(liquid wax) or "ice" liquid wax....is these bad choices

not sure abotu the ice wax, but meguires is good. lotta ppl i know use it. pretty much apply (about 30 mins, more or less), let it sit, and then wipe away with a microfibre cloth, turing it over or gettign a new towel one the side gets dirty :thumbsup:

I've been using the Eagle One product for both washing ans waxing. My Audi is silver and its really makes the paint look rich.

they use to sell the turtle wax that has many colors for different color cars. I think that was the best. I'm not sure if they still carry them in stores

I would sway from the crowd and say "NO" to Turtle Wax ICE.

It has been tested for it's durability, and for the price, it has miserable durability.(less than 2 weeks)

If you're looking for an easy-on-easy-off, head over to your local Carquest, and see if you can find a product called: Duragloss Aquawax. Seriously the best product for less than half the price of ICE.

If you stick with products found at Canadian Tire, give the NXT paste wax a shot. (Overpriced, but supposedly yeilds good results)

Just remember, as with any paste wax, thinner applications are always better. A method of doing this would be to spritz your applicator pad with water every once in a while to help you use less product!

Zaino looks awesome on silvers, as does Jeff Werkstatt Acrylic Jett. (Not from my personal experience, but from other professionals)

well I tried the NXT paste wax and the results were pretty good and it is still holding up pretty good

Yup, it's quite good stuff, but for the retail price ($29.99), there are waxes that are better (subjective, but overall consensus agrees) and also cheaper.

Like I always say, if a product works for you, stick with it. Different paints will react differently to different products.

How about a sealant like Zaino? They last much longer, 6-12 mths typically. Unfortunately they aren't as easy to apply as a wax, but I find the trade-off of having to prep and apply only 1-2 times per year much more tolerable than the monthly wax.

To be honest, I have no personal experience with Zaino, but know many that like it. If this were to be a daily driver, I would probably use a sealant along the lines of Zaino, Klasse, Collinite, or Duragloss because of their durability.

With that said, Zaino looks great on silver cars, as will the others, but in all honesty, there's not going to be a HUGE difference on a silver car-- silver's just one of those colors that won't ever 'pop' like a black. I do recommend sealants on silver, because in general, sealants will amplify the metallics, whereas a wax may mute the pop in flakes. It's all a matter of preference, and whether or not you're willing to make an effort for that extra bit!

PS, the 6-12 month range is a bit off towards the higher range. While it is arguably one of the most durable topper available, saying it will last 12 months with no boosters (Z8 is the Zaino sealant booster I believe, which you apply after a wash) is stretching the limits of the sealant.
