Wheels

What would everyone think if I painted my wheels completely black?
I've been thinking about doing it and I just found a great deal on two 17x11" ZR1's with drag radials on LS1Tech.com that I'm picking up tomorrow. Only other way to make all the wheels match would be to completely sand all of them down, paint the backing grey(or another color, red?) and the spokes black. Here's picture from the seller: |
BTW, yes they are the correct offset for an FBody. Don't let the C5 in the picture fool you.
i think all black would look good it would keep everything looking really clean
I personally really like the chrome lip or whatever you have rightnow alot. Ask grant for a chop of the wheels on it and then I might have more of an opion.
I wouldnt unless you plan to black out the turn signals and get the black halos. I'll work up a chop for yah Chad if you want.
I think it would look good. Although I like it how it is now, everytime I see chrome lips I think of your car.
I think I agree with Grant. If you added all the black lights it might look ok. Otherwise I like it better the way you have them now.
Im kinda liking that second chop..
ALL BLACK ALL BLACK ALL BLACK!!!! looks mean
Dont do it.. Please...
IMO all black rims look like they are dirty. Leave them the way they are. The lip is what makes the difference. If it were an all black car, maybe. But the chop looks like they are "cheap" where your current set up looks great. The chrome lip breaks up the rim and your eyes are drawn to that fact. Compare the two side by side.
Hey, if you do it can I have your old wheels :D?!
Rob |
I dont like it all black with the chops grant made

Well I just picked up the wheels and tires. Wow, I knew 315's were big but when you see them in person I can actually realize how wide they are. Since they have drag radials on them I guess I'll have no choice but to go to the strip and see what she can do. I'll be happy if I can hit high 12's which should be possible as long as my stock clutch can hold.
I like the polished lip on the wheels you have now Chad. All black wheels look like they are wheels that lost their hubcaps.

I say keep them the way they are. All black just doesn't look right. The lip sets them apart from your tires.
yea i dunno about the all black...
Id go with you guys...if i get this thing workin |
cool. i want a lot of people to go and get some cool movies.
Stay with the polished lip.
dont worrie we will
I guess I forgot to post it but I'm going to stay with the lip.
You guys do know it's not polished right? I mean it's just the grey the wheels cam in from the factory, I just didn't paint that section. I guess I need to start sanding down my new wheels and I need to buy some grey paint for them as well. Anyone know how hard it would be to get the black off since it's powdercoated on. Or will I have to just paint the grey right on the black? |
I would say try and get the black off and polish whats there. If its not too much of a pain in the *** then just polish up your other wheels. They are aluminum and alum does polish, it just takes time.
But depends on how many hours you want to dedicate to your wheels. Otherwise I think if you just rough up the powder coat then the silver paint should stick fine.. |
