can u use those gears with an opti?
yes u can
how i looked in the summit mag and they didnt have any for an lt1, who are they made by? and are they the noisy ones?
Well first off it is made by Pete Jackson and it is the quiet version NOT the noisey one. If you read the first post you would know that already tho. Second the Gen 1 motors (87-92 models) and the Gen II LTx models (93-97) are basically the same motors. They use the same type of hydraulic roller cam, a lot of 3rd gen guys use LT1 cams as a nice base model "performance" cam if you will. You will use the same timing chain/gear drive in an 87 camaro as you will in a 97 camaro.

yeah but does a gen 1 have an opti? i think that is what makes the diffrence for the drive? i mean i would like to have the gear drive but it does on the summit and jegs site say for gen 1 i think u cant do it with an opti

3 Attachment(s)
won't work unless you machine a spot for the distributor drive gear. This is the timing set for an lt1

this is basically what teh gear drive looks like
there ya go
actually i dont really see how its diffrent, i know the top gear is what hooks onto the cam and the lower hooks onto the crankshaft but what is the little 3rd gear in the pic? is that the gear for the water pump?
the third gear is distributor drive I believe
