02 sensor
So since my drivers header 02 sensor is out of commission... Would it be better/cheaper to go with a new sensor, which will be a ***** to replace, or just get an 02 sim.
Also, what are some good prices and places to get them from? Im looking around and its anywhere from 30-80 for a new sensor.. I think Ive seen sims for around 50. Im just wondering which I should go with. Im getting crappier gas milage, and I need to replace soon. |
remind me to call polar chev tomorrow on break and ill see what my price is there for it
|
found some on ebay tonight for 75
|
Headers are hard on sensors. Even with rear sims on I still kept getting codes, so I just had them deleted. No codes now.
|
How much was that for you all together?
|
I replaced the sensors first so that cost is in there. And I already had paid $100 for unlimited Predator tunes. The only reason that I replaced the sensors was I thought it might be bad. Then the Predator guy told me that headers are hard on the rear sensors. Come to think of it I dont think I went with sims at all.

Yeah my check engine light shut off today... im so confused. I want to know if its working or not.
|
Supposedly it doesnt effect anything. Just a nusance.
I think I need spell check. |
I heard they give you worse gas milage if theyre bad... Or is that just a selling point?
If its just a matter of an on/off light, then I really dont care... I just dont know if that or my tire with like 20psi is giving me the **** gas milage... i thought it was a combo of both. |
Other than the light buggin the sh** out of me I didnt notice any decrease in performance. No retard in timing or leaning out of fuel.
I dont know what kinda tires you have but unless your driving a drag strip every day why is your pressure so low. You on slicks or what? |
Ok when I had my car tuned by Tom he said he couldn't finish the tune because my 02's were bad. He showed me on his laptop how bad it was messing everything up and you could really see it. He said that it really does hurt your MPG as well. I replaced both of them and went back for a tune, this time you could clearly see how much better it was by looking at HP Tuners.
Like Jesse said, header's are hard on them so expect them to burn out here and there. I took out my rear 02 sims when I had Tom delete them via the computer. |
And thats how much better Tom's HP tune is than the Predator tune is.

The thing is I dunno if its just going beserk or what... The light will come on, then go away. It did this before last CSF also... went on and off all June then was just off until December.. Now its doing the issue again, so I dunno what to think. |
You NEED the O2 sensors in the headers for your car to tune your a/f ratio. You cannot put an 02 sim in place of any of those in the headers. You can use a sim on the one by your cat or delete the code out.
