18'' Wheels Problems For My Camaro

I just tried to have my 18'' (18x9.5) Z06 wheels mounted on my 97 Camaro Z28, but my rears, which are 285/35ZR18's, sat right on the bumpstop. The thing is, I dont want to BFH it like people keep telling me to do, I want to go with the less damaging spacer setup. So my question is, which spacer size should I go with?? Does anyone else have spacers on thier F-Body?? Which ones are the cheapest for the size I need??? Thanks for your help guys, I desperately need my wheels put on :o .

I've heard a good bit of people complain about spacers. But Arch may know some more info for you.

spacers are not safe look at it like this you have a weight on a stick move that weight further from the base of the stick what happens to the stick (you won't see a pro built car use spacers)and I have never seen on that was dot approved which means they are illegal for street use usually there is a reason

and thats what i said at the shop :)

replace a few wheel bearings from them and that's when they don't break and you'll hate them too, I've bought totals at auction that I had to rebuild the front end that was broke from them ford wrench is the best and safest way to do it cheap (the right way is cut and relocate parts)

the funny thing is that i asked my manager before i even started if they were gonna fit. he said yes. so i mounted all the tires. took all the tires off. and then BAM, they dont fit. I worked on a truck after his car and they guy actually had the rims machined so they would fit his Colorado. Oh, and which one of you wanted my girl's phone number? :D

i'd say your best choice would be to get different tires, ones not so wide. Maybe 275?

How cool is that, its a small world man. Yup, the word is out on spacers... I'm not going with that. Everyone keeps telling me to remove the bumpstop, and pound the mount.. and man is that mount tough. We really didn't get on it, but the few pounds we did... man.. BFH is right. The problem is I like the Nitto 555Rs, but couldn't find any 275's. So I'm gonna try the BFH...... :o
