3.4L Intake Manifold Gaskets

Just pulled the intake manifolds off my car tonight. First time pulling my motor apart like that. What a learning experience!
Anyway the question is: the pushrods are routed THROUGH the lower intake manifold gaskets. How the hell do I change the gaskets? Do I have to pull the pushrods first?
And since we're here, is there anything I should be looking for or could do while I have her opened up like this?
Thanks alot

well you arent supposed to do this, but i cut the lower part of the gasket that said do not cut, but i left the top portion alone. if you do this just be sure the gasket lines up with the ports. **** this is frustrating to describe so here:

I was thinking about doing that anyway. No adverse effects?
Also, the throttle body gaskets that come with the fel-pro kit don't match up with what came off of the car. :headscrat
What's up with that?

fel pro sucks

yeah my intake gasket kit had a lotta gaskets so that that part number covers all 60* v6s. theres one in there that works for the 3.4 TB.

and no there are no adverse effects of cutting that strip. its there so that the ports stay parallel, so when you install it with that part cut, make sure the gasket is exactly in place.

a little hi tack will make it stay perfect

actually there a little clip thing that pops into the head. so that should help.

I looked through all of them and couldn't find one that would make a good seal around the IAC Valve port. You used the same gasket set?

actually, i didnt even take my TB off. see the way i changed my intake gasket, i unbolted the 8 bolts for the plenum and took the plenum, fuel rail, and tb off as one and didnt even disconnect the fuel lines or any of the vacuum lines on top, nor the injectors, i just disconnected the single injector harness clip. made it all a lot easier.

I didn't even see that was possible untill it was all off. Definitely the way to go next time. lol
Wish I woulda had more time to do this, would've been nice to be able to clean all the carbon out of the plenum and manifold. Next vacation will be a port and polish weekend. LOL

for gaskets I like mcord if you can find them, I haven't found any really good gaskets out there lately, fel pro used to be great, but now they got cheap on production so they don't line up well
