87 Iroc 17" Rims

Hi,

Getting ready to buy 17" Rims for my 87 Iroc. Like the
looks of the 16''x8'' on here now but want a wider rim and
better tire selection.
Looked at the 17" Iroc rims but they only come in 8" width.

Next choice is the Z06 9 1/2" rims and wondering if possible to install these on a 3rd gen. Know will have to
run spacers and wondering if anyone running them and
what width spacers are needed. Would the extra rim width
especially in the front be a problem

Running Morrison CoilOver in the front so can adjust quite
a bit for hieght.

Ideas, Facts, and pics appreciated.

Thanks

don't run spacers if you plan on driving the car, there are NO dot approved ones made (meaning not one is legal for use on the road) why not check into a 16x9 aftermarket? it would be cheaper normally, and many will make a bunch of offsets to fit correctly without rednecking it together and risking your life (spacers can cause your wheel to leave your car at speed)

Hi,

I feel the same way you do about spacers, but trying to
find a 16" rim that I like, either IROC or Z06 in 9 or 9 1/2"
width with the correct offset not going to happen.

I can't spend 1500-2000 bucks for custom rims like
Coddintons ect. 17" rims give me a better tire selection.
Don't like hanging a spacer on the rear with 502 HP plus
nitrous. There are rims out there that would work, but if
I don't like the look of them not going to get them because
they work.

Will keep looking and running my 16x8s until I do.
Would really like to see someone make a 17x9-9 1/2"
Iroc rim with the correct offset for the 3rd gens. Oasis
makes a 17''x8".
And when I said spacers, They are adapters that bolt to the hubs.
Thanks for reply

those adapters are just spacers with that much power your asking for trouble, basiclly they out more leverage agains the stud. Forget overpriced brands, every wheel manufacturer makes custom sized wheels.Check the back of hot rod magazine, there is a company that makes iroc style wheels in any size you want and they sell for a couple hundred a wheel

IROC Rims 16 or 17x 9-9 1/2"

Hi,

If you happen to think of the company that your talking about please post it.

I know other 3rd gen owners I've talked to would also
like to know. A 17" rim in either 9 or 9 1/2" polished or
chrome with the right offset for our 3rd gens I think would
be a big seller. Especially at 200 or a little more.

Even a 16'' rim in the wider widths would do good. But at 16" you then have
the tire selection problem to deal with.

Thanks

there is an ad in every hot rod magazine for them. I don't know what you mean about tire selection problem with 16's either, most companies make a ton of 16" tires in various sizes (goodyear for one makes somewhere in the neighborhood of 100 different 16" tires) many are special order, but can be done unless the shop your looking at doesn't want to do it (99% of online places won't help you they don't need your money bad enough)

Speaking of $$$$Goodyear.

I priced a set of them I liked, and could buy a nice set of
rims for that amount. And special order usually means
time and for sure money.

Will check out HOT ROD magazine adds and see but like I said not going to throw money at it to make it happen. I
have researched this pretty good and could not find a
17"x9-9 1/2 IROC-C5-Z06 or equivalent rim in the 3rd gen
offset I'm looking for.
