advise on lowering track times.
the other night i took my Z to the 1/8th mile track and the best i could get was a 9.5 , i know the car is capable of a 8.9 but i couldnt hook up in 1st and 2nd gear. im just looking for a way to lower my track times and get me in the 8's. i was thinking about purchasing a 160 degree thermostat and a set of pullies for the car in hopes to get a small gain. i also think my airflow is a problem since i am running the stock intake and exhaust setup i dont think im getting enough air in or getting it out quick enough. i just bought a set of used drag radials off my friend which i hope will get me into the low 9's but like i said.. i want 8's.
i just wanted to know some brands and get some input on the things ive listed. im not sure if a 160 thermostat would start effecting other parts or w/e. any input will help.. thanks! |
more power won't help if you can't get traction, a 160 tstat won't do squat for times except maybe the first run, and that's if you start cold, not to mention the damage done from washing the cylinder in gas (it keeps the engine in cold start mode basically flooding it) change your intake, and exhaust you have to get air in and out more efficiently.Change your gear to a real steep one 1/8th mile is tough to get good times (and the numbers rarely translate to 1/4 from numbers I see on other sites)

For lowering your track times I would suggest upgrading your suspension to gain the addition traction. p.s.- here's a nice little free mod for more traction at the track- disconnect your sway bar endlinks and you will gain more weight transfer which will equal more traction which should equal lower times.. Also- I would be content with a 9 sec time slip...except mine would be in the 1/4.. |
Slicks.:D
