Anyone have a Full Chrome Intakes CAI?

I was just wondering if anyone has one of these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT ? If you do how do you like it? My dad is a lil leery about me buying aftermarket stuff for my car, since he thinks all the factory stuff was designed to be the best. Also another Q, does anyone know of something similar but cheaper? This just seems a little bit steep IMO. I have just the CAI filter right now, and am looking to add a little bit more power and make the engine bay look better also.
Thanks in advance,
Dustin

i made my own intake for about 60 dollars...so im not so sure about intakes such as that work the best, im not sure...there has to be someone on here who has bought on...

60 isnt that steep... try looking at the slp cai once, its like almost 200. I paid around 70 for mine, and I didnt get the full intake... I wish I would have gotten that one, I hate the black shroud there, and have been waiting to get one that goes up to the tb.

I have the exact same intake on my car, from a different ebay store though. Only mine was $40 shipped. I would have easily paid $60 though, thats not a bad price at all considering the SLP ones run over $200 for about the same performance.

I love mine. Easy to install and you can hear it sucking air too. Here is a pic of mine:

I bought the exact one you listed but I chose the K&N version (this was for my v6 BTW). It fit good, and worked very well, it was a little less than 100 bucks, but you could tell the difference.

it looks pretty good i think but im not to sure about the hp/tq gains they claim but either way im sure it would make a difference

How's it goin bud!! First of all, any aftermarket CAI with a reusable style filter like the one you posted, is going to work better on your car than the stock air filter setup. Yeah, you can spend upwards of $200.00 for one, but unless you have a built motor in your car, it's really not neccessary.

I for one chose to go with one of these CAI's because the filter itself is made of the same material that a K&N filter is. It's a wrapped gauze foam material that can be washed out from time to time using the same K&N Recharge Kit, so IMO using a "K&N" filter isn't going to make enough noticable difference to pay the extra money just for the name.

As far as the HP and Torque gains go, they can range from 7 up to 20 HP depending on which one you go with, but one of these you're not really going to get much in the way of gains.

If you do actually gain 7 or 8 more HP, it's at the motor and not at the rear wheels, so I can assure you that by changing only this one thing, you'll never feel any amount of HP increase by driving the car. 7 HP at the motor dwindles away through the drivetrain, and even a 7 RWHP gain isn't something that's physically noticable. Trust me!! ;)

That being said, I still recommend anybody to switch to a CAI, (regardless of how cheap it is) cause it definitely allows more cold air into the motor than a stock filter.
So, try this one here.........it's about $35.00 shipped to your house!

Here's a dirty picture of mine before I detailed it.......and yes, it sucks in way more air than the old one did.

Thanks a lot guys for all your help, it's appreciated. I wish I could use this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1993-...QQcmdZViewItem but since I dont have that elbow (mines a 3.8) it wouldnt work :( I just have one more quick Q, would there be any differnece between this CAI http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT and the SLP CAI? I know the SLP has 2 filters, but would it make much of a difference?
Thanks,
Dusitn

Well your pages arent loading for me right now, but what kind of a difference are you talking about? Power? No, the difference, if there is one will be so litttle.. youre not going to notice much either way. Dont pay for an SLP intake unless you just want the name or looks. They all do the same, especially on a v6.
