CAI concerns...
 

Im always questioning whether to drive in the rain ever since i got my cold air intake. Ive been forced to drive during downpours to get to work and everything has been cool, but im always nervous as all hell, in fear of sucking up water(since the conical filter is not protected THAT well). i was wondering what you guys have done for protection. Also, should i switch back to stock for the winter (slush, snow, etc...). I know i worry a lot but i think i have a reason here. What do you guys think?? thanks in advance...:)

You wont have any problems. I put on an aftermarket CAI and drive it in down pours all the time cuz its my daily driver. You'll be fine in the snow too.

i wouldnt worry about it if i were u, ur not gonna suck up enough water to do any damage unless u drive through a deep puddle or something and its submerged

thats a relief. ive got a homemade CAI with 3" PVC piping leading to an APC aftermarket filter thats the same as the k and n. Not to get off topic or anything but im thinking about headers as my last engine mod...is the difference noticeable or should i spend my money of a shift kit or something?

Unless, its a large amount of water, you should be fine for most occurances. I have the K&n FIPK, but for extra protection from water, I have the K&N Drycharger on it. It's a waterproof cover that goes over the filter.

Get the headers! Its a noticible power and sound difference. :thumbsup:

Yeah, no need to worry unless you plan on driving through a flood.

i actually had to do that when our town flooded, and i had to get to work, about a 4 inches of water, and the car wanted to dye, i had to drop it in nuetral, and rev it up...
