can someone give me a definite answer ?
 

hey everyone,
someone i know claims he owns a 1970.5 camaro Z28/SS... :confused: i have personally never heard of it, i know theres the z28,rs,rs/ss but never a z28/ss. if anyone can give me a for sure answer on weather or not they actually produced these (and how many) that would be great.

I know a lot of people refer to an SS as a Z28 SS, but for that year, I can't say that I've ever heard those referred to in that way... but then again, early 2nd Gens aren't my cup of tea, so I don't know too much about them.

no such thing as a 70.5 for one thing the ss was it's own package like the z28 so it doesn't look like they could be ordered together

1973 you could combine the Z28 option and the Rally Sport option onto the Type LT(this was the first year of the LT that replaced the SS), making a "1973 Type LT(SS) /RS/Z28". This is the closest that you could ever come to getting an SS/Z28 on second gen camaros.

lt didn't replace the ss, the ss was dropped. Lt was more luxury items

"Chevrolet released their second generation model halfway through 1970. This model was very successful mainly because of the new styling which was "Ferrari inspired" in Europe. The body was still based off of the Nova and now the 1970 Camaro was two inches longer, the doors were five inches longer, and was only offered as a coupe. It featured a new A-arm suspension with better noise control. As for the engine, the SS model continued with the 350 and 396 engines (Actually 402, but remained named 396 for lesser insurance). The RS option included a free standing grill, twin bumperettes, an Endura rubber grill frame, and parking lights between the headlights and the grill. The SS included a special black grill, hidden wipers, power brakes, engine trim, white letter tires, chrome dual exhaust, and the SS396 came with black painted trunk panels and a special suspension. so, YES there was a 70.5 camaro, that was the 70 camaro. But I dont believe there was a Z28/SS

it was never titled as a 70.5 it came out in february (my info is from nastyz28 which is referdto by GM)

yeah, it was never titled 70.5, but thats when it actually was released was halfway through the year which i was figured was what the guy might have meant by 70.5

the thing is it makes the people who call thers a 70 look like it's the old model, and confuses people.we had people on nasty z28 get kicked out of shows for lying about the year of their car (they put 70 and the judges said no such thing)
